IMPORTANCE, AIMS AND POSSIBLE OUTCOME OF RESEARCH
Sepsis is a complex syndrome which attacks the whole body and as a serious
uncotrolled inflammation can lead to death. Not only the diagnosing, but also
the treating is hard because the sequence of the patomechanism is unknown
and in the therapy we have to count with the individual differences. The systemic
inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) leads to polyorgan failure with cardiovascular
abnormities and hypoxia. It is proven that SIRS damages the oxidative
phosphorilation in mitochondria which means the tapping of the energy balance
of the whole cell. We think, if the backround of this mechanism is well known
the effective therapy of sepsis could be elaborated.
AIMS DURING HIS CAREER
In this project my first goal is to learn in vivo techniques which I could do on
small and big laboratory animals. I am interested in OROBOROS system which is
a useful equipment to investigate mitochondrial functions. I would like to widen
my theoritical and practical knowledge. By the end of the program, I would like
to acquire quantitative and qualitative knowledge which I will be able to use
bravely either in medical researches or in medical practice.
