IMPORTANCE, AIMS AND POSSIBLE OUTCOME OF RESEARCH<br />
Pathogenic bacteria tend to gain resistance against currently available antibiotics,<br />
which trend causes problems in the clinics worldwide. We believe that<br />
understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance<br />
evolution will eventually lead to finding new, more efficient drugs or therapeutic<br />
perspectives.<br />
The aim of my work is to utilize genome engineering and a method, developed<br />
in our lab. With its ability to incorporate mutations at an unprecedented speed<br />
and accuracy we gained an opportunity to model evolutionary processes faster<br />
and with an unprecedented accuracy. Based on my unpublished, preliminary<br />
data, my findings have a direct potential to advance both clinical and biotechnological<br />
research.<br />
AIMS DURING HER CAREER<br />
My short term goal is to learn as much as possible about state-of-the-art, high<br />
throughput methods in biology and the bioinformatics of data analysis. With this<br />
knowledge in hand I hope to participate in researches that can be utilized in the<br />
clinics. My main motivation besides scientific curiosity is the wish to serve others<br />
with my work.<br />
