IMPORTANCE, AIMS AND POSSIBLE OUTCOME OF RESEARCH
Amiotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder which cannot
be cured efficiently up to this day. ALS significantly decreases the quality of life
of the patient, and 3-5 years after the diagnosis leads to death. There are two
forms of this disorder: familial and sporadic. Through sequencing the genome of
patients scientists were able to detect some SNPs and genetic variability. The aim
of our research is to further investigate the genetic background of amiotrophic
lateral sclerosis. If we get to know the genetic background of ALS we could offer
more targeted, more personal therapy.
AIMS DURING HER CAREER
After finishing the medical school, I would like to get my PhD degree. I would like
to work overseas or somewhere in Europe and I would like to persue a carrier in
research as a full time scientist.
