IMPORTANCE, AIMS AND POSSIBLE OUTCOME OF RESEARCH
In the therapy of neurological diseases the efficient transport of targeted drug
delivery across the blood-brain barrier is a crucial question. Due to the prensence
of the active efflux pumps of brain endothelial cells and tight junctions the transport
of potencial drug candidates are usually low. As a solution to this problem
vesicular and solid nanoparticles serve as promising candidates targeting the
physiological transport pathways of the blood-brain barrier. The aim of our experiments
was to measure the toxicity, uptake and transport rate of these particles
on brain endothelial cells. We tested nano-sized, biocompatible and Evans-blue
filled vesicles and solid nanoparticles on brain endothelial cell cultures during
our work.
AIMS DURING HER CAREER
Participating in oncological clinical and research work: I would like to work in a
field which is relevant to my current research and also where I will have the opportunity
to work in patient-care and laboratory work as well. I am also deeply
interested in oncology itself, so I really believe that this is the field that I could
reach my goals.
