Quilt and craft expo
This week’s Quilt and Craft
Expo at the Uniting Church
Complex, Patrick Street, Laidley,
will have displays of quilts,
craft, patchwork, stitch work,
needlework and fine arts along
with demonstrations of various
crafts and outside displays including
vintage trucks, tractors,
cars and engines.
The Expo has been run by
Laidley Uniting Church for 30
years and this year, will celebrate
the thirty-third annual
event. It is a main feature of the
Laidley Spring Festival.

The 2017 Expo will be held
Thursday and Friday between
9am and 4pm and 9am and 3pm
on Saturday.
Admission is $5 for adults and
50 cents for children.

Highfields Kindergarten will host an open day at their centre
in Bloodwood Street tomorrow Wednesday, September 6.

The Highfields QCWA Banch day group will conduct a picnic
meeting in Laurel Bank Park at 10am on Monday, September 11
in the lead up to Carnival of Flowers week.
The next meeting for the night group will be at 6pm at the
Highfields Tavern at 6pm tomorrow, Wednesday, September 6.

Cultural Centre next Tuesday, September 12. Doors open at

changes and not all for the better,
with the development of
small housing blocks. Highfields
was appreciated for open space,
green areas and lifestyle.
“We need to identify a centre
that reflects the ideal lifestyle.
Council won’t do it. And I commend
the Highfields and District
Business Connections for their
leadership in this.
“I’m disturbed at the lack of
facilities for the numbers of students
who will be leaving school
in a couple of years.
“Highfields has been regarded
as a dormitory suburb, but
we now need facilities here to
encourage young people to stay
here in their community.”
