CROWS NEST: August 30 - Afternoon social
bowls was won by Tony Ryan, Esbert Ehrlich and
Terry Bowe, runners-up Bill Perry and Doug Lane.
August 26 - Crows Nest hosted Gatton in round
three of the 2017 pennants. Crows Nest were too
strong for Gatton, and won by 76 to 38. Whenever
we play at home, why not come along for a look
and support the Crows Nest team.
August 27 - Crows Nest played away to South
Toowoomba (1) in round four of the 2017 pennant.
Crows Nest went down to Souths, 53 to 80.
Sunday 27 August’s mixed social afternoon was
won by Trevor Gillies, Brian Gleeson and Aileen
Cox, and the second place-getters were Ray Weis,
Mick Chandler and Les Chikos. Coming events:

ended with a tie with Hampton and Ravensbourne
both losing one match. In the play off on Monday

Hampton is now the winner of the Premiership
Cup having won the first round outright.
A handicap singles tournament was conducted
on the other tables. This was won by Ben Kahler
starting on two and then winning all his games. -

FISHING
CABARLAH: This month, the club trip was to
Coolmunda Dam which is currently at 95 per cent.
The weather was not the best with strong southerly
winds blowing on Friday and Saturday. The Sunday
morning weather was the pick of the weekend.
There were 14 members in attendance but unfortunately
not a lot of fish were caught. The
largest of those caught were: Yellow Belly Ron
Gwydir 1.71kg, Jew Wayne Sommerfield 1.98kg,
Silver Perch Wayne Sommerfield 1.10kg
The club has welcomed a new member, Anthony
White, and his son Jared as a junior member.
Next trip Bjelke Petersen Dam September 9 and
10, as water levels are still at 20 per cent. Recent
reports indicate that although the level is dropping
and some areas are shallow, the main basins are
fishing well. There will be a club sausage sizzle
held on the Saturday night for all members to
enjoy. Hamish Classic
The Hamish Classic is being held again this
year by Downlands College in memory of Hamish
Stewart. The tournament will be held on September
23, also at Bjelke-Petersen Dam. Each year the
club supports Downlands College and the Stewart
family by making a donation towards the tournament
