CROWS NEST: August 30 - Afternoon social<br />

bowls was won by Tony Ryan, Esbert Ehrlich and<br />

Terry Bowe, runners-up Bill Perry and Doug Lane.<br />

August 26 - Crows Nest hosted Gatton in round<br />

three of the 2017 pennants. Crows Nest were too<br />

strong for Gatton, and won by 76 to 38. Whenever<br />

we play at home, why not come along for a look<br />

and support the Crows Nest team.<br />

August 27 - Crows Nest played away to South<br />

Toowoomba (1) in round four of the 2017 pennant.<br />

Crows Nest went down to Souths, 53 to 80.<br />

Sunday 27 August’s mixed social afternoon was<br />

Cox, and the second place-getters were Ray Weis,<br />

ended with a tie with Hampton and Ravensbourne<br />

both losing one match. In the play off on Monday<br />

Hampton is now the winner of the Premiership<br />

A handicap singles tournament was conducted<br />

on the other tables. This was won by Ben Kahler<br />

FISHING<br />

CABARLAH: This month, the club trip was to<br />

Coolmunda Dam which is currently at 95 per cent.<br />

The weather was not the best with strong southerly<br />

winds blowing on Friday and Saturday. The Sunday<br />

morning weather was the pick of the weekend.<br />

There were 14 members in attendance but unfortunately<br />

not a lot of fish were caught. The<br />

largest of those caught were: Yellow Belly Ron<br />

Gwydir 1.71kg, Jew Wayne Sommerfield 1.98kg,<br />

Silver Perch Wayne Sommerfield 1.10kg<br />

The club has welcomed a new member, Anthony<br />

White, and his son Jared as a junior member.<br />

Next trip Bjelke Petersen Dam September 9 and<br />

10, as water levels are still at 20 per cent. Recent<br />

reports indicate that although the level is dropping<br />

and some areas are shallow, the main basins are<br />

fishing well. There will be a club sausage sizzle<br />

held on the Saturday night for all members to<br />

enjoy. Hamish Classic<br />

The Hamish Classic is being held again this<br />

year by Downlands College in memory of Hamish<br />

Stewart. The tournament will be held on September<br />

23, also at Bjelke-Petersen Dam. Each year the<br />

club supports Downlands College and the Stewart<br />

family by making a donation towards the tournament<br />
