Under head coach Ryan
Haughton, success is something
the Fullerton High School
football team has become
accustomed too.
Haughton sports a 60-40
record while at the helm of the
Warriors, and the 2016 campaign
was another solid one as the
group finished 6-3 and advanced
to the Class D2 playoffs.
Fullerton came out of the gates
on fire last year, winning their
first five games, all by double
digits.
However, the group tapered off
toward the end of the season,
dropping two of their last three
regular season games before
losing to Wynot 44-16 in the
playoffs.
As 2017 approaches, the outlook
is bright once again for the
Warriors, as the offense and
defense both return seven
starters.
Among those returners are
seniors Hunter Friend and Kole
Prosoki, both of whom will play
vital roles for Fullerton this
season.
Friend is a running back on
offense and a linebacker on
defense, and is coming off an allstate
honorable mention season
in 2016.
“(Hunter is) a returning captain
and an all-state honorable
mention winner,” Haughton
said. “He was a 1,000-yard
rusher last year on offense. (He
is) a tough runner that scored 35
touchdowns last year.”
While Friend will be trying to hit
holes in the defense, Prosoki will
be creating them. With a 6-foot,
285-pound frame, the senior will
be a force on both the offensive
and defensive lines this fall.
“(Kole is a) great kid with a
great football mind,” Haughton
said. “He will be a four-year
starter and an all-state honorable
mention and all district player.
He is a returning captain and has
always showed great character
and leadership. He has anchored
the middle of our line for three
straight years.”

While there will be difficult
opponents on the schedule for
Fullerton this season, Haughton
will be expecting to improve on
his impressive career record.
“We have lofty expectations as
we return seven starters on both
sides of the ball,” Haughton said.
“(We were) a very young team
last year and should be more
experienced. A good freshman
class is coming in which will also
help add depth to the roster.”
