The 2016 season was a tough
one for Head Coach Randy
Eisenhauer and his team. The
Wolfpack finished the season
without a win, scoring only
nine touchdowns in eight
games.
The schedule didn’t do them
any favors either, as five of the
eight teams they faced were in
the playoffs last year, including
the eventual state champion
Burwell and a Neligh-Oakdale
team that was undefeated.
While depth could be a
problem for this year’s team,
they do have plenty of players
returning.
Junior Hunter Reestman will
look to take over the reins
in the backfield. Reestman is
the top returning offensive
weapon for the Wolfpack. Last
year, Reestman ran for two
touchdowns and also threw for
one.
Sophomore Conor Ramold
will be back under center this
season. Ramold struggled his
freshman season throwing
one touchdown versus eight
interceptions. Now, with a
season under his belt, Ramold
is hoping that experience will
lead to better results.
As for the offensive line,
senior Liam Heithoff will be
anchoring the line. The threeyear
starter is also the starting
defensive end. Last year,
Heithoff recorded more than
100 tackles, one sack and a
fumble recovery.
Elgin-Pope John will be young
once again this season and
will face yet another tough
schedule, but if the Wolfpack
can stay healthy, they could be
more competitive this season.
