Louis Loutan obtained his medical qualification in 1978. He was appointed Associate Professor<br />
in 2007.<br />
Travel and migration of humans and pathogens<br />
We have explored various aspects of travel and migration medicine ranging from hepatitis A<br />
vaccine (immunogenicity and tolerance), to antimalarial drugs and the epi<strong>de</strong>miology of<br />
imported infectious diseases by migrants and travelers. We are currently moving into issues<br />
related to globalisation (access to health care, changing epi<strong>de</strong>miology of infectious diseases<br />
ID in the urban environment, refugee health). Future research directions will strengthen the<br />
links between fundamental parasitology and the clinical context.<br />
