H 2 O’s middle school program was designed to captivate the caring spirits of 6 th -8 th graders and
Catholic Academy. From opening ice-breakers and service projects to game time and closing refl ection,
meetings were structured to promote new friendships, raise social awareness, and encourage activism.
summer camp
198 campers donated
3,960 hours of service
Camp’s energizing theme, “Go Do!” provided a dynamic framework
for daily service and action. This year’s camp highlighted the needs
of Lakewood’s refugee population through fi rst-hand stories by guest
speakers, emphasized during work experiences with Migration and
Refugee Services. Campers set up apartments for newly arriving
immigrants in the area. Campers also tutored children enrolled in
ASIA’s summer program at St. Luke’s. These experiences provided
new skills for campers and expanded their understanding and
compassion toward Lakewood’s newest residents.
“Go Do” also inspired campers to make a difference during their
daily rotation of service at the following sites:
• Asian Services
• Camp Can Do
• Cleveland Foodbank
• Crestmont North Nursing Facility
• Cuyahoga Valley National Park
• Childcare facilities
“HAVING THE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THE NEED, AND
