Farm Store: Strawberry Hill Apartments: the first
section of Fawn Creek Mobile Home Court; the Jones
county maintenance shop: and Hardees.
Four of Frank and Katie's children — Thomas. John.
William and Emlin — settled in Anamosa.
Thomas married Rose Fagan of Temple Hill in 1921.
He was Jones County treasurer from 1932-39. He sold
insurance and farmed. The children of Thomas and
Rose were Patricia. Loras. Cletus and Frank.
Patricia married Lowell Smothers in 1943. Their
children are Karen. Tom and J .J .
Loras married Nadine De Lancey in 1947. Their
children are Thomas. Jerry. David. Linda. Dan and
Theresa.
Cletus married Ole Bena in 1950. Their children are
Doug and Sandie.
Frank married Mary Lou Finn in 1948. Frank was
associated with the McNamara Shoe Store and
McNamara Plumbing. Frank and Mary Lou are the
parents of three sons. Dennis. Rick and Steve.
John McNamara was married to Ruth Cook in 1927.
They became the parents of Donald and Kathryn. John
served as mayor of Anamosa. and owned the
McNamara Shoe Store for 35 years.
William 'Bill' McNamara remained single. He was a
farmer and cattle buyer.
Emlin McNamara married Jeannette Griffin in 1940.
She died in 1946. He married Maldean McLaughlin in
1948. They operated the McNamara Funeral Home. in
Anamosa for 35 years. They were the parents of
Michael and Kathleen.

John Cook and his wife. Lovis Pate. settled on a farm
in Boulder Township. Linn County. in 1848. They
came from Indiana with their children: Solomon.
Theodosia. John H.. George Washington Alexander.
and Mary. Their two oldest sons. William and Amster.
had preceeded their parents to the Iowa prairies.

The elder John Cook was born in 1795. Hampshire
County. West Virginia. The date of his death is
unknown. His wife. Lovis. was born in 1805. and died
in Linn County in December 1854.
