FOOD ART EXHIBITION
Friends and Trophies
The photograph shows bottles of alcoholic beverages, be it
wine or beer or any drink in between. The spacing of the bottles also
shows that the bottles are clearly very close, making use of little
negative space. The background of the photo also uses a bright
color. The artist explains that each bottle represents when their
particular group would drink therefore the title, Friends and
Trophies, with a bottle representing a night filled with fun, drinking,
and being in good company. Each bottle may either represent
celebration, but as with friends, also being a representation of
sadness, with alcohol and their friends company to cheer them up.
I think the use of their negative space (or the lack of it) is a
very good metaphor on how close the friendships of their group,
with them being a tight knit group, almost treating each other like
family. The use of vertical lines is also meaningful, as it depicts that
there are some moments that are just bigger, that some nights are
just more memorable than some nights of drinking. The vertical lines
can also represent each friend’s individuality, and how they are still
able to blend together, accepting each other for their individuality.
The background color being a bright one, can show that times are
brighter, more fun, when we are surrounded by friends that are close
to us, friends that accept us for our individuality, friends that will be
there for us in moments of happiness and challenging times.
FOOD ART EXHIBITION
The artwork is a simple one, albeit has a lot of depth within. Friends
and Trophies takes us back to our cherished moments with friends,
making it very relatable to each and one of us, with all of has having
some form of “Friends and Trophies” that we have in our hearts.
Friends and Trophies shows us the true meaning of friendship, and
how beautiful friendship really is.
DLSU MUSEUM: CITYSKAPES (ART IN CITY)
I visited the museum at De La Salle University, with the theme this
term being Cityskapes, with the museum showing artworks that
focuses on the Urban landscapes, be it in the streets, or the grand
overview of a city. Sadly though, we were not allowed to take
pictures of the artworks in the museum.
What amazed me was how the artists depicted the details in the city,
how they can show a busy street, something that we usually see
everyday and take for granted, and with what we usually take for
DLSU MUSUEM: CITYSKAPES (ART IN CITY)
Granted, the artist would go on to create a piece about it with such
detail and immortalize that moment. It just amazes me on how art
works, taking a moment that we take for granted and immortalizing
it, and we appreciate that moment that we take for granted.
Because of the pieces that I saw in The Museum at DLSU I can now
appreciate situations and places that I normally see each and
everyday, and live in the moment. It taught me that we should slow
down and appreciate everything in our lives, the good, the bad and
everything in between. We usually are living life looking forward to
things, but the pieces teaches us that there is beauty in simple
moments.
Myself as an artist: The Name
WHERE DID THE NAME COME FROM?
My Stage name was just to shorten my real name Xavier. Because
no one gets it right at the first time, like the spelling. They also keep
saying (if they got my name right) like Xavier with an X? Well so
that’s how my stage name came from. Oh and btw I also think that
the X-Men are dope so X. Ya’ll know how the most famous people
are only known by one name? Beyonce, Adele, etc. I wanted to go
another level and be know by only one letter.
