NESTLÉ Bangladesh gives out gifts
to contest winners

University appointed

Nestlé Bangladesh Limited
organised a celebration for the
contest winners of “Pushtir
Patshala” for its Breakfast Cereal
consumers on August 3, 2017 at
Nestlé Bangladesh Head Office.
The contest starting on March
1, 2017 and ending on April 30,
2017 was based on the theme of
bond between mothers and their
children and involved sharing
their photos and stories on
Facebook.
During the contest,
participating mothers made their
submissions through the Nestlé
Corporate page on Facebook
and were judged based on the
quality and engagement on
their posts. The contest winners
were selected outlet-wise and
the first winners received brand
new bicycles. The second and
third prizes were trendy skating
board and mini basketball sets
respectively. The Pushtir Patshala
contest was conducted in 19 key
stores across Dhaka City.
Senior Management Team and
members of Nestlé handed out
the gifts to the winners. •
Nando’s Master Grillers’ Challenge 2017 held
Renowned professor and architect
Professor Mohammad Ali Naqi
has been appointed as the new
Vice-Chancellor of Stamford
University Bangladesh. He has
been appointed as the VC for the
next four years by the Chancellor,
President of Bangladesh Abdul
Hamid Chowdhury.
Professor Mohammad Ali Naqi
completed his undergraduate in
Architecture from BUET in 1989
with first class and completed his
M. Arch. from the same university
in 2004.
He started his career as a
lecturer at Khulna University in
1991 and subsequently promoted
to an Asst. Professor in 1994
and Associate Professor in 2001.
He also became the head of the
architecture department at Khulna
University during his tenure
there. In 2006 he joined Stamford
University Bangladesh as the Chair
of the department of architecture.
Well known for designing a
number of notable architectural
structures in the country,
Professor Naqi has many
publications in reputed journals.
He has succeeded the former VC
Professor Feroze Ahmed. •
UGC chairman to deliver
memorial lecture at the former
Islamia College in Kolkata
Like every year, Nando’s
Bangladesh organised the Master
Griller’s Challenge 2017 at its
Gulshan 1 branch last Saturday.
Anthony Shoikat Gomes seized
the winning title and as the
regional winner of this year
he will be joining the Nando’s
Master Griller’s Challenge in
South Africa.
He will represent the Nando’s
Bangladesh team against the
master grillers of 24 countries
in this prestigious culinary
battle. MGH Restaurants Pvt
Limited (MRPL) has been the
Master Franchisee of Nando’s in
Bangladesh for 10 years.
The special guest judges
of this festive fight included
celebrity singer Hridoy Khan,
model and presenter Ismath
Zerin Chaity, television host
Samia Afrin, the winner of
Nando’s customer survey Ashik
Noon.
The 12 griller Nandocas
(the name given to a Nando’s
team member) went through
a month of intense training
sessions and screening tests.
The master grillers Md Al
Mamun (Dhanmondi), Uttam
Sarker (Gulshan 2), Md Al Imran
(Banani) and Anthony Shoikat
Gomes (Gulshan 1) became the
finalists of 2017. The finalists
had only fifteen minutes to
prepare and grill their best
PERI-PERI chicken and impress
the judges.•
Bangladesh Deputy High
Commission in Kolkata has
organized a memorial lecture on
‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman and Bangladesh’ on
August 17 to mark the national
mourning day on August 15.
This August it will be the 42nd
martyrdom anniversary of the
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The memorial lecture, for
the first time will be held at the
former Islamia College (presently
Maulana Azad College), where
a young Bangabandhu studied
and started his political career.
Professor Abdul Mannan,
Chairman, University Grants
Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh
will deliver the memorial lecture
as the keynote speaker. Other
speakers include Professor
Suranjan Das, Vice-Chancellor,
Jadavpur University, Paschim
Banga and Professor Bijoy Krishna
Roy, Principal, Maulana Azad
College, Paschim Banga, India,
who will speak on the topic ‘the
life and works of Bangabandhu.’ •
