VI INTERNATIONAL INTER-UNIVERSITY MEETING
FROM EMPIRICISM TO EVIDENCE-BASED SCIENCE IN
PHLEBO-LYMPHOLOGY & AESTHETICS
From – To
It is with a heart full of joy that we are announcing the VI International
Interuniversity meeting in Phlebology, Lymphology & Aesthetics.
Surely, organizing a meeting of such high value brings to us equal pleasure and
responsibility.
But, in this peculiar event, there are also moral and scientific values that make this
experience unique.
“From – to” is the leitmotif of the event.
From our last meeting in Argentina, now to Italy.
From one side of the world to the other, collaborating to promote science, innovation
and up-to-date best practice.
From empiricism to evidence-based medicine, for our discipline advancement.
From the venous experts to the other professional specialty allies.
From the most important internationally recognized vein specialists to the active
involvement of the forthcoming generations.
From the most serious scientific brainstorming to the most amusing social sharing,
fundraising and public health awareness promotion.
This is the vision of the meeting and of the Venous World International Network
foundation.
This is our deepest desire: welcoming you in a private island near Venice, a true gem
so geographically close to the most beautiful touristic treasures of Italy.
A so special place where interacting with the most recognized specialists of the
world, a setting for presenting new ideas, an island of knowledge where building
together the next steps of our specialty and of our social relationships.
In life it’s not just where you go, but also who you travel with, thus we are truly
honored and enthusiast of having you with us both in Albarella island and in its
meting vision.
TRANSPORTATION INSIDE THE ISLAND
Albarella is a a private island, but it is linked to the land by a spectacular
road in the middle of the lagoon. Getting in & out from the island is really
simple.
For the participants of the social public venous awareness day of
September 9, a big parking spot is available right in front of the island
gates.
In case of accommodation inside the island, stop at the dedicated office
before the island gates. If you’ll arrive when the office is closed rely directly
to the gate personnel who will assist you. Cars are allowed just to move
from the island gates to your accommodation and back. The best way to
enjoy the island is to rent a bike, a golf cart or to use the public
dress & moral code
Dress code is as informal as much as
the scientific rules are strict.
Vision of the meeting is the equal
promotion of social and scientific
values. We truly wish you will enjoy
your free time in the spectacular
setting of Albarella Island, together
with friends and colleagues from all
over the world.
At the same time…..
…we hope a top quality science will be
developed during the working hours.
References must be reported on your slides.
Discussants will prepare proper questions. At
the end of the assigned time the mic will be
switched off.
The world renown prof. Hugo Partsch once gave
balls customized with the word “EGO”
to his meeting attendees. They had to leave
the ball and their EGO in a basket outside
the meeting room, bringing in their best
science. All of us have learnt something from
Hugo and we look forward for enjoying the
same, all together, both in the scientific and
social moments.

a drug called…. Food & Beverage
The VI International Interuniversity
meeting vision includes top science in
Phlebology, Lymphology and Aesthetics,
but also the will of increasing public venous and health awarenss.
One of the most powerful drugs is of course food.
For this reason, lunch boxes have been specifically designed by
dr. Massimo Spattini, an internationally renown expert in Sport Medicine &
Nutrition.
Since vWIN foundation has a special social attention, lunchboxes are
created with eco materials, thks to the work
of people with social difficulties
belonging to the GRUPPO POLIS…..
….and if you will feel too full, do not worry,
Associazione ONLUS Bandiera Gialla will take care of all the food left after
the meeting, bringing it to the poor people of the region. Thus, GRAZIE dr.
Spattini for your healthy suggestions, GRAZIE Gruppo Polis for your respect
for the nature, and thank you Bandiera Gialla or delivering the remnants of
our food to the ones who really need it.
Love Compression Kiss
In 2015 Lancet Journal reported that
Venous Thromboembolism is a leading cause of
prevenatble death (Lancet 2015; (2);393): public
venous awareness campaigns are needed. Love
Compression kiss is a funny way to raise
awareness about the potential benefits in
reducing thrombotic risk by means ofadequate
use of graduated compression elastic stockings.
In front of a camera, a couple has to shoot a little video.
One says “Love”, the other one gives a hug stating
“Compression” and the first one ask for a kiss. If the kiss
happens they can declare together Love Compression Kiss
and nominate another couple. A free donation could follow.
Eventual proceedings will be dedicated to scientific research
on venous thromboembolism. A dedicated corner will be present in the meeting venue.
The VI International Interuniversity meeting offers a great opportunity to unite for the big aims
of phlebology. Apart from our daily routine work, we have to answer some crucial questions:
- How much do we know about the pre-clinical stages of venous disease?
- What kind of studies should be performed to learn more?
- Does High-resolution ultrasound provide new information about C0-C1 stages?
- Why does prevention work that well in dentistry, but not in Phlebology?
- Do we really believe in prevention, or are we afraid to loose customers?
- Can´t we learn together about the morphologic and hemodynamic criteria for an improved
case selection?
- Can´t we provide inputs how to improve endovenous treatments, or how to construct
artificial vein valves?
-
DESIGN the corner from THE FUTURE
..& WIN a 1.000 $ flight stipend for one of the
11 international meetings linked to vWIN foundation
It is my personal background, being the founder of several dedicated ”new method” vein clinics,
forcing me to always peer for less invasive, pain-free, comfortable and long-term satisfying
methods. Our group invented hyaluronan valvuloplasty for reliable vein valve restoration, the
“magic invisible film bandage” to optimize sclerofoam treatments, a novel kind of viscous
sclerofoam for large varices, a couple of new laser and glue applications, and many more. All these,
before coming to the market, have served hundreds to thousands of our patients for years.
Nevertheless, looking at the world´s requirements, it´s just a drop in the bucket!
At te VI International Interuniversity meeting, we will provide an “electronic innovation booth” to
initiating a non-commercial collection of ideas, suggestions or presentations. A non-disclosure
agreement will save everybody´s rights. There will be free counseling on how to deal with novelties
in aspects of patents, studies and company negotiations. A summary of the idea collection will be
published, as far as the participants agree. Every contribution will be considered for the “innovation
prize travel stipend” of 1000 USD for the participation in the 2018 UIP meeting in Melbourne (there
is a particular innovation session!), or another meeting promoted by vWIN foundation.
SPECIAL “GRACIAS”
The VI International Interuniversity meeting in Phlebology, Lymphology and Aesthetics is a
scientific journey made possible by multiple international bridges, built by the most amazing
friends and world renown vein specialists.
Walking on them brings joy and privilege, but also the responsability of keeping on working all
together for a political involvement dedicated mainly to the advancement of our scientific
discipline, rather than our small personal interests.
Walking on them brings the need of honoring the professional and human figure of prof. Oscar
Bottini, first scientific “carpenter” of these international bridges linking Latin America with
Europe.
Together with him, my deepest gratitude goes to prof. Yung Wei Chi, for having built the
second bridge and to all the so many friends and top quality professionals who have
demonstrated once again that everything is impossible…until it’s done and that, in life, it’s not
just where you are going, but also with whom.
Looking forward for the next scientific journey all together toward the VII International
Interuniversity meeting in Argentina, GRACIAS from the bottom of my heart to all
