The walls are bare, completely stark, and as<br />
darkness sets in, the riotous lighting plays havoc.<br />
The shaft has been turned into<br />
the liquor display unit,<br />
highlighted with more recessed<br />
lighting and has become the<br />
main focus of the bar.<br />
BASICS<br />
The built up area of the J Bar is rather<br />
small, somewhere around 1280 sq ft.,<br />
although the total floor area, which<br />
includes Himalayan Java, its kitchen and<br />
offices, is enormous. Being largely a<br />
rectangular shaped hall, the interiors were<br />
architecturally very uninteresting. It had<br />
a low ceiling with a lot of irregularly<br />
distanced beams. In addition, there was<br />
a shaft on one side as well as four<br />
columns within the enclosure. This first<br />
