Sophie started as a grassroots
activist, working in popular
education centres as of 2001. This
community involvement eventually
brought her to actively participate in
one of Montréal’s strongest
mobilizations: ‘’ Mobilisation
Turcot’’. She fought against a
highway expansion project. It is a
cause that she continues to support
in her capacity as a borough
councilor
Through this report, I hope you will
to obtain concrete results for the
Southwest over the last four years.
This way, I hope to help fight off the
cynicism many of you might feel
towards politicians in this time of
uncertainty. – Sophie Thiébaut
“For me, there is little difference between
working in the community and in politics.
My role is to be a spokesperson, to put the
concerns of my fellow citizens at the heart
of political priorities. It is to truly change
my neighbourhood, and the lives of
people.”
