The Fountain is a regular FoC publication. 

Publishing expenses are met by donations 

to FoC, and all the proceeds from the sale of 

this issue go into funding of the 2014 FoC

About FoC: 

Fountains of Christ (FoC) is a rapidly growing 

Christian ministry comprising enthusiastic 

young ladies and gentlemen based 

in Nairobi, Kenya who aim to follow Jesus’ 

example, to spread His love and to proclaim 

the true Biblical gospel message to the entire 

world. 

Among the activities undertaken by FoC include 

outreach ministries to various learning 

institutions especially high schools, evangelism 

through online and print media, health 

ministry, literature evangelism and evangelistic 

missions to unentered areas. 

FoC was started and is based in Newlife 

SDA Church in Nairobi, and its members are 

college students in various Kenyan universities 

and high school students (majority being 

from Alliance High School, Alliance Girls 

High School and Pangani Girls High School.)

Dear reader, 

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

From the dawn of life to the prophetic climax of history; from the 

courageous chronicles to the evident approach of the perilous 

times… Here are times when the world has become so similar to 

Lot’s days. 

But we, the Fountains of Christ have been called to stand apart. 

Touching the ‘untouchable’, healing the ‘unhealable’, reaching the 

‘unreachable’: that has been our sole purpose. God has been so 

faithful to us, to see us grow from a small group to what we are 

now. In all that we have engaged ourselves in, we have never 

lacked a thing. 

We have had successful campaigns preaching the word, from the 

grand 2013 mission to Kapenguria in West Pokot County to the 

ministry Sabbaths we’ve had in various churches and schools. 

We have also spearheaded mentorship programs and bible study 

sessions in various schools and among our members too.

We have purposed in our hearts to preach this Gospel as a message 

to the whole world as a testimony to all nations. The future 

now beckons. The world is coming to an end sooner than we ever 

thought. The Greatest Commission given to us by our Lord Jesus 

Christ before his ascension must be preached. We have been 

chosen. Young people should participate in this noble task. 

Now, here comes another effort to raise funds for the next grand 

mission to Machakos, this December: another issue of The Fountain.

the disciples

boat, they did not argue, they 

entered the boat. He then went to 

pray for them. (Matt 14:22-24) 

Today, God commands (constrains) 

us to obey His commandments; 

to do His will. The same 

way Christ went to pray for His 

disciples is the same way God 

As you read this am not sure whether you 

are alive or dead. Likewise, as you claim 

your righteousness, only God can discern your rotting 

frame, slowly wasting away to the world. Only 

the devil can tell how much he has attempted to 

pull you closer to him, that you may be a walking 

dead.

Every good deed is recorded. 

Every suffering for the Lord is 

recorded. Your reward may not 

be realized here on earth but it’s 

surely there in Heaven. If we just 

do God’s will and obey His commandments 

including the fourth, 

we will emerge victorious. If victory 

was achieved through the 

physical death, then it can be 

achieved under all circumstances. 

Do His will and leave the rest to 

God’s hands! He spins the planets 

and lights up the stars. He controls 

the world and everything in it 

alongside the heavens. “Then said 

he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for 

from the first day that thou didst 

set thine heart to understand and 

to chasten thyself before thy God, 

thy words were heard, and I am 

come for thy words.” (Daniel 10:12) 

God answered Daniel’s prayer at 

last! Endure! O soldier of Christ! 

Endure! 

To keep the love of God before me as my chief good 

and highest joy; to find in it my most supreme counsel, 

and in the way of God my fullest measure of contentment; 

to possess in Christ all the fullness of God, and the perfect 

model of my character; to realize the greatest riches in a 

virtuous life, and to achieve my highest honor in the loving

Who is this man, 

Jesus Christ?

1He came from the Throne of His Father above into 

the womb of a virgin. He became “the son of man” 

that we may become sons and daughters of God. 

He was born in a supernatural manner, lived in poverty 

and was reared in obscurity. He neither wal-

lowed in luxury nor influence, yet the wisdom of men 

never matched His. 

Never has a philosopher spoken like Him. His family 

was poor and humbled. At death, He alarmed 

3 

King Herod. As a boy, He stunned theologians with His 

knowledge and wisdom, for He was taught of God. 

4In manhood, He ruled the elements and quieted 

the raging sea. He healed the multitudes with no 

herbs or drugs and fed thousands from a boy’s lunch 

box. He raised three people from the dead and demons 

obeyed Him. 

5He wrote no book, yet all libraries in 

the world can’t contain the books 

that have been written about Him. 

He never wrote a song, but He 

6 has been the theme of more 

songs than all the hymn-writers 

combined. He never found any college, 

yet all colleges put together 

cannot boast of as many students as 

he has. 

He never marshaled any army, yet no 

7 leader in the world has had such many 

volunteers. Great men have come and gone, yet 

He lives on. Herod could not kill Him, Satan could not 

tempt Him into iniquity. 

Death could not destroy Him, the grave could not 

8 withhold Him, yet for our sakes He became poor. 

9He conquered death and rose on the third day, just 

as He had uttered, and all His words came true. 

He ascended into Heaven and now sits at the 

10 right hand of the Father. Soon, He will return 

power and great glory to harvest and judge the world.

Trust the Driver

There’s an old story of a boy who 

stood on a sidewalk,waiting for 

a bus. A man walking by spotted 

the boy, and gave him some 

gentle instruction. “Son,” he said, 

”If u are waiting for the bus,you 

need to move to the street corner. 

That’s where the bus stops 

for passengers.” 

“It’s OK,”said the boy. “I’ll just 

wait right here,and the bus will 

stop for me.” The man repeated his 

argument, but the boy never moved. 

Just then, the bus appeared. Amazingly, 

the bus pulled over to where the boy stood, 

and he hopped in. The man on the sidewalk stood 

speechless. The boy turned around in the doorway 

and said, ”Mister, I knew the bus would stop 

here, because the bus driver is my dad!” 

When you’ve got a family relationship with the 

bus driver, you don’t need a bus stop. if you have 

given your heart to the King of kings, you’re in a 

royal family of unspeakable proportions!

Why I Desire To Be 

A Missionary Doctor 

Why did you choose the 

career you are in now, 

or what is the reason why 

you want to pursue that course? 

Well, many at times we want to 

pursue certain fields because 

we want to generate wealth 

and have a luxurious life here 

on earth. However, 

the key question 

should be: ‘Is 

Christ going to 

be exalted in my 

career?’

place in November 

2013. Young 

and zealous 

medical students 

from Kenyan universities, 

and other members of 

the Fountains of Christ Ministry 

gave themselves into free medical 

missionary work. As people 

waited for the physical healing, 

they were simultaneously fed 

with the soothing water from the 

well at Samaria, and word 

by word, their burdens were 

lightened by the assurance 

that proceeds from the Holy 

Scriptures. I could see that 

God’s people need physical 

healing as much as they need 

the spiritual healing. 

Dear reader, I saw that the 

fields are white but the reapers 

are few. I felt the deep 

desire to hearken unto the 

high calling to medical missionary 

work. Will you hearken 

to the same call? God really 

needs to save his people 

through you. After this medical 

service, many remained 

behind to hear what the pen

Friends, our jobs 

should be done in 

a way to glorify 

God. As for me, that 

is why I want to be 

a doctor. There is 

no missionary field more important 

than that occupied by the 

faithful, God-fearing physician. 

I think there is no other field in 

which a man can accomplish 

more good or win more jewels 

on his crown. He may carry the 

grace 

of 

Christ 

as a sweet perfume into the 

wards, the true healing for the 

sin-sick soul. He can point the 

sick to the dying lamb that 

takes away the sins of the 

world where they would then 

secure eternal peace. Statistically 

proven, nine tenths of such 

would be made better in mind 

and body. 

Christ is the only Physician in 

whom the soul can trust to heal 

its maladies of the body. Amen. 

I want to be a doctor because I 

want people to know and come 

back to Christ. That is my dream, 

by God’s grace. Ask yourself, 

what is your focus in that career 

you are in? May God bless you 

and guide you as you think of 

that. Let’s all purpose to glorify 

God in all our concentrations in 

life.

Testimony From A 

Drunk Uncle

My uncle was an alcoholic who used to drink till late 

in the night. One night as he was heading home 

from the bar, he was attacked by thieves who injured 

him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. He 

developed complications from his drinking and also 

because a part of his head that was injured by the 

thieves had not been well attended to. He lay on the 

verge of death for a week or so before fully recovering. 

Upon healing, he promised himself never to go 

back to alcoholism. He had seen that God lives and 

had spared his life and restored his health. It was 

difficult to quit but with God`s help he managed. 

Many at times, God allows some challenges to face 

us in order to get us out of our comfort zones. And 

always he does it with love not to destroy us but to 

make us. In everything, always recall that he loves 

us. 

Not In Vain

Looking back to that one week I spent in Kapenguria, 

I must admit that they were the most enjoyable days 

of the whole of that holiday. I did go for ‘door-to-door’, 

ate ugali in the morning, went to grind maize, taught 

children, attended the open air meetings and even 

dewormed kids. 

Missions do not only impact those you preach to, 

they make a significant change in you. You become 

bolder about God’s word, and become able to preach 

it to millions without being shaken. 

I urge you not to hide that God given message in 

you; not to put your light in a bowl, but rather to put it 

on a mountain for all to see. I think Christ must have 

enjoyed his three and a half years moving about 

spreading the good news and leaving joyful healthy 

people. Read Matthew 5:16. 

Caring for the World’s 

Needs

Hello wonderful reader, 

Have you ever stopped to wonder what we did 

that is so great that God sent His only son to die 

for us? Then pause and think... 

Are you blank? As for me my answer is love. 

He loved us that much, for love is not just a feeling 

of strong affection but giving for the world’s 

needs, sharing as the Holy Spirit leads. It is caring 

when the rest of the world doesn’t. it is, finally, 

having compassion just as Christ did. 

So what should we be? We should be as channels 

of blessings through which God’s love will 

flow through us to others. Moreover, the Bible 

should be our best book. We should know it 

in our heads, store it in our lives and share its 

message to the world. Keeping in mind that the 

troubles that we face each day are meant to reveal 

to us how much we need God, by resting our 

faith and will. 

If we put our problems in God’s hands, he ensures 

peace in our hearts. 

More so, prayer is the soil in which hope and 

healing grow best. We are to live exemplary lifestyles 

for we know that beautiful lives are those 

that bear for other lives their burden of care, and 

show the spirit of Christ in whatever they do and 

wherever they go. 

As we endeavor to carry out the great commission, 

let us remember we can build up or tear 

down, create a smile or a frown by the words we 

use. Let us therefore encourage one another in 

everything that we say. 

Summing up, let us know that while Christians 

are at peace with each other, we can clearly see 

the prince of peace.

One act caught my eye one 

Wednesday afternoon as we 

were coming to class from lunch. 

I saw this young lady who I really 

admired for what she did. She 

was talking to the street boys 

and giving them food. Whatever 

they were talking and laughing 

about may not matter much, but 

the kind act, the fact that she 

could spare some time and food 

for them is what actually counts.

better to judge? 

Is it about the street child or 

the orphan? They are our fellow 

men, only in a different social 

category. There are many needy 

people in the society, ‘friends’ 

who need our sincere help, love, 

company, compassion and care. 

Remember the parable of the 

rich young man to whom Christ 

said, “Yet lackest thou one thing: 

sell all that thou hast, and distribute 

unto the poor, and thou 

shalt have treasure in heaven: 

and come, follow me.” (Luke 

18:18-30) 

The rich young man was very 

sad. Even after ‘keeping’ the 

commandments, he still lacked 

something! And yes, the only

I am sure you wouldn’t want to 

miss heaven, to be left out just 

because of not following one of 

the simplest yet hardest rule, 

LOVE. All in all, purpose to follow 

it in life. 

There comes those moments 

in life when we often feel 

like we are torn apart, and 

we just want to sit somewhere 

locked up, ransacking our brains 

for answers that 

we never seem 

to find. But we 

always miss out 

on something. 

Too many times 

we miss so much because we live 

on the low level of the natural, 

the ordinary, the explainable. We 

leave no room for God to do the 

exceeding abundant thing above 

all that we ask or think. 

Sadly enough, rarely do we ever 

experience these low moments 

because our relationship with our 

best friend, Christ, is at stake. Or 

maybe because we lost track of 

our prayer life or even missed out 

Moments in Life 

on an opportunity to serve God. 

It always has to be about fading 

worldly things. Things themselves 

do not remain but their 

effects do similarly with time. 

Therefore we should not be mean 

and calculating how much of it 

we have but give to God with a 

generous hand like he always 

does. Every minute with God 

gives that peaceful feeling of 

wholeness and happiness. Look

Are you looking for Sophia?

Wisdom and power 

are two principle 

things that many 

in this world are seeking. 

Some seek one of the two 

others go for both. Many 

philosophers have given 

various definitions of 

what they think wisdom 

is ye the ancient Greeks 

even personified wisdom 

as the goddesses Métis 

and Athena. Philosophy is 

itself defined as the love of 

wisdom ~philo meaning 

love and Sophia being the 

Greek for wisdom. Some 

have defined it as the ability 

to acquire knowledge 

and consequently apply it 

in decision making. Aristotle 

thought of wisdom 

as the understanding of 

causes i.e. knowing why 

it rains as opposed to 

simply knowing the way 

rain looks like when it 

rains. Numerous cultures 

valued wisdom as can be 

evidenced by the ancient 

Greek relics and stories. 

The Romans also valued 

wisdom. 

Various religions have numerous 

books of religious 

instruction that speak 

about how one can go 

about the pursuit of wisdom, 

looking for Sophia. 

From the Mighty Bible 

to the Holy Qur`an, Buddhism, 

the Baha’i, Taoism, 

the Bhagavad Gita just to 

mention a few, great effort 

is made to acquaint man 

with the lovely Sophia. 

Power on the other hand 

has been defined by sociologists 

as the ability to 

influence the behavior of 

people. It can be viewed as 

the ability to make things 

happen as one deems fit.

writing in

both the natural and the 

man-made. There exists 

in our world men and 

women of power either 

emanating from the law 

such as the police, judges 

and financial muscle as

Still another class such 

as that of wizards and 

witches boasts of ultimate 

power. Those who do not 

have power find reprieve 

in being close to the powerful. 

Ecclesiastes 

1:9 says 

‘That which 

hath been is 

that which 

shall be; and 

that which 

hath been 

done is that 

which shall 

be done: 

and there 

is no new 

thing under the sun’. 

People back then looked 

for Sophia as we do today. 

Solomon himself when 

accorded an audience 

with The Almighty asked 

for Sophia you can read 

the account from 1 Kings 

3:5-10. James the brother 

of our Lord Jesus has this 

to say to those looking for 

Sophia: 

James 1:5: But if any of you 

lacketh wisdom, let him ask 

of God, who giveth to all 

liberally and upbraideth not; 

and it shall be given him. 

Believe it or 

not it is 

Sophia that 

has been 

looking for 

you... 

Paul in his first epistle 

to the Corinthians touches 

on these topics also. In 

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 he 

gives us a distinction 

between worldly wisdom 

and the wisdom of God 

the latter being greater 

than the former. The 

enabled apostle breaks 

it down to us that wisdom 

and power are one 

- Christ the power of God 

and the Wisdom of God. 

Paul takes to task the Jews 

for rejecting Christ because 

he came to them as 

a lamb when they wanted 

a lion and thy missed him. 

The Greeks on the other 

hand could not accept 

Christ as God and divine 

when they heard 

that he died 

on the cross. 

They could 

not come to 

terms with a 

dying savior 

and further 

more believed 

that none 

could ever 

come back 

from Hades 

and thus on 

the premise 

of their much 

superior knowledge they 

dismissed Paul but others 

accepted. You can catch 

up with Paul in the book 

of Acts 17:16-34. Paul puts 

it to us that the search 

for wisdom is simply the 

searching after of God by 

mankind. God is through 

Christ revealing himself 

to a world that does not 

know Him and has gone 

after earthly wisdom. 

The foolishness of God 

is wiser than men; and 

the weakness of God is 

stronger than men is Paul 

recommendation of God`s 

goodness. Indeed the wise 

man Solomon writing in 

Proverbs 8 tells us that 

Christ is crying out in the 

streets and in the high 

places unto men and the 

sons of men. Believe it or 

not it is Sophia that has 

been looking for you. God 

has put in each and every 

one of us that curiosity to 

seek after Him. In verse 

35 Solomon concludes that 

whosoever finds Christ 

finds life and shall obtain 

favor from the Lord 

indeed John 17:3 says that 

this is life eternal that 

they may know Me, the 

Only True God and Jesus 

Christ whom I have sent. 

Verse 36 states that he 

that sinneth against Me 

wrongeth his own soul: 

all they that hate me love 

death forasmuch as Christ 

the power of God and the 

wisdom of God is also the 

way, the truth, the life and 

the victory. 

He who hath the Son hath 

life and that in abundance. 

There remains but only 

one question and that 

is do you know Sophia? 

Simply put do you know 

Christ personally? Behold 

he is still calling today, 

knocking at the door of 

your heart, will you open 

the door? The son of Jesse 

instructs us to taste and 

see that the Lord is good 

Psalms 34:7. Maranatha

physical and spiritual yearning 

for rest. As Christ moved about

in the mission of His Father, He 

offered to the people both the 

bread to feed the body and the 

spirit, as well as the water to 

quench both the body and the 

spirit. To the 5000 men he gave 

them spiritual nourishment, and 

they perceived not that time 

was much gone, until compassion 

moved Him to satisfy their 

bodily needs. To the woman 

at Jacobs well, He offered the 

water of life, the fountain that 

never shall run dry. 

Last December Kapenguria 

mission was one big blessing 

bestowed upon The Fountains 

as well as the people of 

Kapenguria. As we moved from 

house to house with my fellow 

FoC members, I could see that 

for sure, the fields are white 

and the enemy has invested a 

lot to strike with burdens, that 

the people of God should not 

find comfort enough to meditate 

upon His great love. We 

sang songs of love, of grace 

and of hope. In the company 

of five missionaries, we carried 

gospel books from hut to hut, 

sharing God’s love and praying 

with the people of Kapenguria. 

As we sang along, we met one 

Mwalimu. This child of God 

was on his way to the market 

but our singing intercepted his 

walk. As he stopped to greet 

and share with us, he shared 

with us how the people of that 

village had been living with the 

fear of attacks by their neighboring 

tribes. He was so happy 

that people could travel from far 

and wide, not to seize their cattle 

and strike their week, but to 

share with them the love of God. 

In this atmosphere, I reached for

books 

we had carried for evangelism 

and gave him a copy. 

This is just but one out of hundreds 

of welcoming souls that 

we managed to reach to. As 

usual, many extended a second 

visit and with this, the Spirit of 

God through us touched in a 

special way. And what is more, 

despite the vast area, every 

homestead was blessed with at 

least one gospel book to keep 

them warm. As for these, let the 

Holy Ghost teach them the will 

of the Father every day that they 

wake up. 

The more we shared with these 

residents, the more encouraged 

we became. For the unwell, we 

would direct them to the mission 

camp where our missionary 

doctors labored to heal the 

body, while the different speakers 

addressed the general public 

through Bible Studies, Health 

lessons, Sermons and Prophecy 

programs. As the mission came 

to a close, many souls joined local 

church members to receive 

the blessing of baptism and 

die together in Christ. The work 

that was done in Kapenguria, 

only God can measure. And yes, 

we came out more refined than 

when we went there. 

Are we ready to honour Christ? 

When this question is asked most of us usually give a strong 

and confident yes. However, one more question we should always 

ask ourselves is how? 

Christ should be honoured in many ways, the summary of 

which involves doing what is excellent, pure and blameless 

before Him. In Philippians 1:9, Paul’s prayer for all the saints in 

Christ Jesus who were at Philippi captures this though amazingly 

well. The Apostle prays that they may all be able to do that 

which is blameless and pure through the power of prayer. 

Without prayer none of us is ready to honour Christ because it 

is by prayer that we approve what is pure, blameless and excellent. 

Are we ready 

to honour 

Christ?

Encounters 

Caution Is Wisdom 

Let us be vigilant and cautious in all goodly undertakings... 

The pounding rain could not 

stop the dedicated evangelist. 

He proceeded unimpeded 

with the door to door visits 

in the company of equally zealous 

youths. How beautiful it was 

to share the good news of the 

fountain of life while the showers 

of blessing kept pouring. The appreciably 

beautiful lady who led 

the way was rightly at the front; 

her charming smile and exuberance 

was the key with which 

they unlocked doors and opened 

the hearts of strangers. It was a 

lovely procession. 

As they approached the next 

household, a lady approaching 

from the opposite side politely 

cautioned them to tread with 

greater care since that ground 

was slippery. But the team leader 

was quick to respond, and in her 

careless excitement and with 

a sneer of derision, questioned 

whether it was her duty to dictate 

how people walk and where they 

step. Bad mistake! Her words had 

barely left her mouth when she 

skidded horribly and fell awfully 

on the muddy path, leaving her 

hitherto white skirt dreadfully 

stained. And the evangelist’s 

reaction was equally malapropos. 

Unable to contain himself, he 

broke into an ugly and thunderous 

laughter, eventually losing 

his own balance. His fall was 

even more comical, and he fortuitously 

missed landing on the 

lady by a few inches. 

That infelicitous occurrence halted 

the day’s plans and the gospel 

train retreated in disgrace. But 

the import of their predicament is 

significantly broad: This world is 

slippery. This world can fall you. 

This world can shame you. The 

Christian ought to tread carefully, 

for its ugly twists are unpredictable 

and unparalleled. 

You can be as beautiful as 

Jemima the daughter of Job, or 

ruddy and of fair countenance 

like David the son of Jesse, or 

handsome in form and appearance 

like Joseph the son of Jacob, 

or even as refined and elegant 

a preacher as Paul the Apostle, 

but the world will neither respect 

nor adore such. It adores neither 

beauty nor riches, and has 

dishonored both the lowly and 

the mighty. Yes, it mortifies and 

moves on. It tramples and treads 

on. It abases and then abdicates.

Therefore, let us be vigilant and 

cautious in all goodly undertakings, 

because caution is wisdom 

and wisdom is strength. And we’ll 

do well to remember fondly the 

words of Apostle Paul, who captured 

this in the best way he only 

could, when he aptly exhorted us 

in Ephesians 5:15-17; 

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, 

not as fools, but 

as wise, Redeeming the time, 

because the days are evil. Wherefore 

be ye not unwise, but understanding 

what the will of the Lord 

is.” 

Again I say: caution is wisdom. 

My Past, My Present, My Future: 

Fourteen years ago, my mother 

was heavy with child, yet 

elated that her first-born child 

was on the way. Finally, I was 

born, introduced into the human 

race. Innocent as I would look, I 

was in sinful nature, and sinful in 

nature I was until I accepted and 

went under water, kneeled down 

with uttermost humility at Calvary 

and accepted the sacrifice made 

for me. 

Human history was merged at 

the point Jesus committed His 

spirit into the father’s hand and 

died like the most sinful of men. 

It was at that point that all creatures, 

both divine and physical, 

had a turning point. From then on,

there was provided bright hope for 

today and for posterity. 

Yet right now, I live in full awareness 

of the pain my saviour endured. 

I know well that each time I 

sin, God stretches His hands wide 

and invites me to go to Him and I 

will receive rest. Though my sins 

be as red as scarlet, He will make 

them as white as snow. This is the 

great message; the good news 

that we simply need to lay at His 

feet all our cares and believe He 

has forgiven us. 

Brethren, lets live to the best we 

can honouring the sacrifice at Calvary, 

the blood that flowed for my 

sin and yours, the flesh torn for 

our transgression and the brow 

pierced for our guilt. Then when 

our work on earth is done, and the 

trumpet shall be sounded, it will 

be our joy to inherit the everlasting 

Kingdom, see our Saviour and 

live with Him forever and ever. 

Then o’er the bright fields we shall 

roam, in glory celestial and fair. 

With saints and with angels at 

home and JESUS HIMSELF WILL 

BE THERE.

As A Child 

The childhood and youth of Jesus 

were spent in a little mountain village- 

obscure and despised Nazareth. 

Hi mother was his first human teacher 

and despite all the `backwardness` 

as we may term it today, He lived an 

industrious life that had no idle moments 

to invite temptation, no aimless 

hours opened way for corrupting 

associations. Neither gain nor pleasure, 

applause or censure could induce him 

to consent to a wrong act. He was sure 

strong to discern and resist evil. 

His early years, teach an important 

lesson; the more quiet and simple the 

life of a child- the freer from artificial 

excitement and the more in harmony 

with narure- the more favourable it is 

to the physical and mental vigour and 

to spiritual strength. Every youth who 

follows Christ`s example of faithfulness 

and obedience in his home may claim 

ALL GOD`S PROMISES. 

Our God is faithful and as Carolina 

Sandbell sang: 

The protection of his child and treasure, 

Is a charge that on Himself he laid 

As your days your strength shall be 

in measure, this the pledge to me He 

made

Only one life, so live it well,

Seeing the need, forgetting the want 

It's fascinating to watch a tipsy 

man try to get what he wants 

whilst forgetting what he needs. 

This is a sunday morning and I am 

so much in a haste to get to Eldoret 

town. As the bus rumbles into the 

main stage everyone dashes for 

their loads. I had one big bag in one 

of the trunks of the bus. Quickly I 

picked out my backpack straddled 

it onto my back and made out as 

fast as possible for the bigger bag 

outside. 

The sole reason I was rushing this 

wise was because I was going to 

meet people to travel to a destination 

we had not been to before. I had 

done my traveling drills but I was 

highly unprepared for this encounter 

I'm about to tell you. Man needs a 

lot, but he also does swamp himself 

with wants. I met a drunk guy pulling 

at my bag and I was instant in 

defending my luggage. Obviously 

beaten to it, he now began pleading 

for a 'chai'. He was so shame-faced 

and seemingly earnest in asking 

that I decided to listen to him (a terrible 

mistake- *never try to talk with 

a drunk person thinking to bring him 

to senses if you haven't the necessary 

skill/tact). He followed me and 

all this while I clung to my goods 

while keeping a watchful eye on him. 

We did not get far before two elders 

from my school's church came out 

towards me. I stopped for them and 

we began some chitchat. The drunk 

man became restless and his want 

(chai) got the better of him. It took 

the intervention of Mr Clinton whom 

I met some minutes later to parry off 

the advances of this man towards 

my pockets. It was really a long story 

I cut short because I want to get you 

the lessons I learned from this man. 

I gave ear to the drunk man because 

I felt the urge to bless and save him 

however meagerly I could. His intentions 

were, however, contra wise. 

Have you imagined of turning your 

back on the very person who want 

to help you at your most desperate 

moment? 

The Jews had Christ, their Messiah, 

when they needed Him most.

Blindness, misplaced priorities and 

impenitence shrouds us as they did 

the Jews. In 1 Kings 8:27, Solomon 

shows us the kind of heart and 

impression we should have towards 

our wants because our real need is 

salvation. Now, I have shared this 

with you that together we may 'walk 

worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, 

being fruitful in every good work, 

and increasing in the knowledge of 

God.' (Colossians 1:10).
