Machinery GmbH has further strengthened its global
presence while decentralizing service delivery with the
addition in mid 2011 of new state-of-the-art grinding
machines in its Malaysia and Taiwan service centers. The
company’s aim is to be able to serve its customer base in

Southeast Asia faster and better, with a more complete range
of rotor resharpening services. With these two new locations,
along with existing regrinding service units in Brazil, China,
Germany and the USA, Automatik operates the industry’s
most extensive regrinding network. Replacement parts for
pelletizing systems can likewise be rapidly and reliably
delivered from these regional service centers spanning the
globe. “We lead in cutting rotor quality,” emphasizes Thomas
Willemsen, Director of After Sales at Maag Group, “and we
are committed to further expanding our global presence.”
Cutting rotors are the heart of any pelletizing unit, chopping the
continuous strands of molten polymer into uniform pellets. Over
time, this action subjects the rotors to enormous wear and tear,
particularly in the case of glass-fiber reinforced or highly filled
materials. With their superior design and construction quality, the
rotors from Automatik may typically be reground as many as a
dozen times, depending on their condition at the time they are
sent back to an Automatic regrinding center for service.
Tooth profiles for optimum cutting and maximum availability
When regrinding rotors, Automatik expertly tailors the tooth profile
so that the geometry of the cutting edge is perfectly tailored to the
application at hand. This ensures that cutting performance is
optimized to the material – whether soft, hard or reinforced – so
that perfect, top-quality pellets are uniformly produced with a
minimum of dust generation and a maximum of machine
availability. In addition to these application-tailored tooth profiles,

Automatik offers rotors in a wide range of sizes and blade
construction materials, including tool steel, stellite, powder steel,
carbide and ceramic. This combination of individualized rotor
geometry, optimized tooth profile and high-performance, highly
wear-resistant material ensures that rotors from Automatik deliver
unsurpassed performance, maximizing system availability and
operating profitability. As Willemsen explains, “Customers are
eager to use our cutting rotors even in pelletizing systems from
other manufacturers because they last longer and can be
