█ Expert service for pelletizing systems
Automatik expands rotor regrinding service globally
Long-lasting cutting rotors for perfectly
shaped pellets with minimal dust generation
Additional capacity for rotor technology in Malaysia
and Taiwan
Grossostheim, 16 September 2011: Automatik Plastics
Machinery GmbH has further strengthened its global
presence while decentralizing service delivery with the
addition in mid 2011 of new state-of-the-art grinding
machines in its Malaysia and Taiwan service centers. The
company’s aim is to be able to serve its customer base in
Southeast Asia faster and better, with a more complete range
of rotor resharpening services. With these two new locations,
along with existing regrinding service units in Brazil, China,
Germany and the USA, Automatik operates the industry’s
most extensive regrinding network. Replacement parts for
pelletizing systems can likewise be rapidly and reliably
delivered from these regional service centers spanning the
globe. “We lead in cutting rotor quality,” emphasizes Thomas
Willemsen, Director of After Sales at Maag Group, “and we
are committed to further expanding our global presence.”
Cutting rotors are the heart of any pelletizing unit, chopping the
continuous strands of molten polymer into uniform pellets. Over
time, this action subjects the rotors to enormous wear and tear,
particularly in the case of glass-fiber reinforced or highly filled
materials. With their superior design and construction quality, the
rotors from Automatik may typically be reground as many as a
dozen times, depending on their condition at the time they are
sent back to an Automatic regrinding center for service.
Tooth profiles for optimum cutting and maximum availability
When regrinding rotors, Automatik expertly tailors the tooth profile
so that the geometry of the cutting edge is perfectly tailored to the
application at hand. This ensures that cutting performance is
optimized to the material – whether soft, hard or reinforced – so
that perfect, top-quality pellets are uniformly produced with a
minimum of dust generation and a maximum of machine
availability. In addition to these application-tailored tooth profiles,
Automatik offers rotors in a wide range of sizes and blade
construction materials, including tool steel, stellite, powder steel,
carbide and ceramic. This combination of individualized rotor
geometry, optimized tooth profile and high-performance, highly
wear-resistant material ensures that rotors from Automatik deliver
unsurpassed performance, maximizing system availability and
operating profitability. As Willemsen explains, “Customers are
eager to use our cutting rotors even in pelletizing systems from
other manufacturers because they last longer and can be
reground more frequently. Perfect cutting performance, lower
energy consumption and maximum machine availability are now
critical factors for improving the operating economics of pelletizing
lines and maximizing return on investment.”
Expertise from the market leader
Automatik Plastics Machinery has been engaged in the design,
construction and grinding of pelletizing rotors for more than 50
years, including not only rotors in new pelletizing systems but also
after-sale replacement rotors and rotor regrinding services. The
expansion of its service centers in Malaysia and Taiwan reflects
its increasing market presence in the rapidly growing Far East
market, particularly in Southeast Asia. Through its decentralized
organization of six regrinding centers spanning the globe,
Automatik is ideally positioned to quickly respond to the needs of
its customers, wherever they are located. The company, with its
extensive global network, manufactures or regrinds more than
3,500 cutting rotors each year and anticipates growth in this area
of some 10 percent in 2012.
