Crows Nest Police - month in review by Sergeant Greg Dawes CRIME: Between June 1 and 17, unknown offenders have entered a rural property on the New England Highway, Pinelands where a solar water pump was stolen. On June 9, police from the Darling Downs District Tactical Crime Squad executed a search warrant at an address in Perseverance Dam Road, Crows Nest. During the search a quantity of cannabis and drug utensils were located which were seized by police. A 23-yearold man, two 21-year-old men and a 21-year-old woman were issued Notice to Appears on charges of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on July 4. Between June 13 and 14 unknown offenders have unlawfully entered the Toowoomba Regional Council Waste Facility on Kleinton School Road, Kleinton where a quantity of used batteries were stolen. Inquiries are continuing. On June 16, a 43-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted on a property at McNairn Road, Crows Nest. The complaint was later withdrawn. TRAFFIC: On June 23, a white Toyota utility was intercepted on the New England Highway, Hampton where the 54-year-old driver provided a positive breath test. A further test conducted returned an alleged reading of 0.117 per cent BAC. The woman was issued with an immediate drivers licence suspension and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on July 4 on a charge of driving whilst over the middle alcohol limit but not over the high alcohol limit. On June 25, a two vehicle non-injury traffic crash occurred at the intersection of Toowoomba Road and Curnow Street, Crows Nest. An infringement notice for the offence of failing to give way was issued to one of the involved parties. On June 28, staff from the Toowoomba Road Policing Unit attended the Crows Nest area where they performed traffic enforcement activities. Below are their results: A white Holden sedan was intercepted on Toowoomba Road. Inquiries revealed that the 46-year-old driver had never held a drivers licence. The man also returned an alleged positive drug driving analysis. The man was issued with a Notice to Appear for offences of unlicenced driving and drug driving, and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 22. A silver Nissan sedan was intercepted on Pechey-Maclagan Road, Groomsville. Inquiries revealed the vehicle was both unregistered and uninsured. The 37-year-old driver was issued with infringement notices for these offences and his registration plates confiscated and vehicle immobilised for a seven day period. A white Holden sedan was intercepted on the New England Highway, Pechey where the 42-year-old driver provided an alleged positive drug driving analysis. The woman was issued with a Notice to Appear and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 15 for the offence of drug driving. A white Ford sedan was intercepted on the New England Highway, Crows Nest where the 50-year-old driver provided an alleged positive drug driving analysis. The man was issued with a Notice to Appear and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 15 for the offence of drug driving. A yellow Mazda sedan was intercepted on Charlotte Street, Crows Nest where the 42-year-old driver provided an alleged positive drug driving analysis. The man was issued with a Notice to Appear and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 14 for the offence of drug driving. A purple Ford sedan was intercepted on Toowoomba Road, Crows Nest where the 38-year-old driver provided an alleged positive drug driving analysis. The woman was issued with a Notice to Appear and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 22 for the offence of drug driving. A white Hyundai sedan was intercepted on the New England Highway, Pechey where the 26-year-old driver provided an alleged positive drug driving analysis. The man was issued with a Notice to Appear and will be appearing before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 29 for the offence of drug driving. During the month there were 32 traffic infringement notices issued for various offences, the majority being for exceeding the speed limit. Until next time.
