SABBATH JOY AT LIMURU GIRLS’ SCHOOL

No MAN AS
HANDSOME

During the week, we are faced
with numerous toils and
struggles. Tears, heartache,
body ache, spirit ache.
Disappointment, disgrace,
shame, pain... Sometimes it
feels like the eternal one has
forsaken us. We walk but we do
not know our destination, we
smile but deep inside we are
clouded by pain. We take each
step, at the verge of despair, but
hope it is not the last we take.
As the feeling of despondency
creeps nearer, the mid-week
meeting arrives. The heavenly
melody of the SDA society
greets the senses. We sing,
smile, laugh, and for moment
there’s no worrying about what
the future holds. Indeed, the
company of believers renews
the spirit and rejuvenates the
soul. “The joy of the Lord is
my strength” is the confession
of every believer. Shalom
chaverim! We proclaim peace
in the lives of each other, as we
the await with bated breach to
gather together again on Lord’s
day.
Though it seems like a mirage,
we know it is coming. With
our little strength left, we
approach it. And finally, the
sun sets, revealing the wonder
of wonders: the love of Christ.
Joy, gladness and peace reigns
in out hearts. One glimpse
of His glory repays the toils
of life. The challenges of the
week are now behind us. We
recollect the tempest, how the
path grew rough and dreary, but
how in one moment our eyes
were turned to Him. How His
presence abides in our hearts
and how He gives us assurance:
“Never alone! Never alone!”
Davids psalms resounds in the
lips of God’s peculiar people.
Oh, what a sublime moment!
In full allegiance to the infinite
love that He has bestowed upon
us, we submit ourselves fully
to His throne. Our only plea:
“Dear Saviour, make me wholly
thine!” Heaven rejoices and the
Spirit of God descends upon
us to restore and replenish
our strength. Austin Miles’
wonderful hymn sticks close to
our hearts:
“And He walks with me, and He
talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share
While we tarry there
None other has ever known.”
And with every passing minute
of the Sabbath, we wonder what
we would have done without
this day. As the sunset hue
covers the sky, we sing with
greater conviction: “Great is thy
faithfulness!”
ONLY ONE
On a cold winter day

Have you ever watched
a snowflake as it drifted
down the ground?
Did you know that God
made the snowflake
special?
There is not another like it
to be found,
And there is no one just
like you; you are the only
one like you,
God loves you right now
the way you are.
look at God’s lovely
creation,
That you know He
remembers your name,
He made each living thing
just a little bit different,
When He could have just
made us all the same.
And there is no one just
like you; you are the only
one like you,
And God loves you right
now the way you are.
There’s not a man in the world, as handsome
As one who has a close relationship with God
Who trusts in God, and knows He’s awesome
Who knows his calling, and his duty to God
Who’s intelligent, humble and even winsome
He ever studies and meditates on God’s word
Rises early and his heart ever lifted in prayer
Seeks to know, and do God’s will, undeterred
Scripture ever on his lips, in season, to share
Speaking the truth and not afraid to be heard
A man of self-discipline and of understanding
His place he keeps orderly and oh so cleanly
Healthful and savory meals he enjoys cooking
He does his dealings and his work diligently
And knows exactly which course to be taking
And he knows how to show everyone love
And he knows how to address a woman
And he sure is not afraid to step into love
And he would take up the risk as a man
Because he too is always so loved by Love.
