1. How shall His appearance
be?
-Titus 2:13 : looking for
the blessed hope and
GLORIOUS appearing
of our great God and
Savior Jesus Christ
2. Will it be real and
literal or suddenly
people will disappear?
described?
LIKE MANNER as you
saw Him go into heaven.”
24:27
Just a few or everyone?
-Revelation 1:7 : Behold,
He is coming with
clouds, and EVERY EYE
WILL SEE HIM…
4. Will even the
wicked people SEE
Him coming?
-Revelation 1:7 : Look,
He is coming with the
clouds, and every eye
will see Him, EVEN
THOSE WHO PIERCED
HIM…
5. Will the
second coming
be secret
and silent?
-1st Thessalonians
4:16:
For the Lord
Himself will
descend from
heaven WITH
A SHOUT,
WITH THE
VOICE OF AN
ARCHANGEL,
AND WITH
THE TRUMPET
OF GOD...
-Matthew
24:30 : Then
the sign of the
Son of Man
will appear in
heaven, and then all the
tribes of the earth will
mourn, and they will see
the Son of Man COM-
ING ON THE CLOUDS
OF HEAVEN WITH
POWER AND GREAT
GLORY.
(So, in Revelation 16:15
when He says, “I am
doesn’t mean that He
will come secretly, or
‘rapture’ people secretly,
but He will come SUD-
DENLY. It will be unexpected
for they who
haven’t prepared.)
6. If someone tells
you Christ’s coming
will be in secret,
should you believe
it?
-Matthew 24:23
7. What will be the
reaction of the wicked
people?
-Revelation 6:14-16
(they try to hide in
mountains and rocks.
Remember they cannot
withstand His glory.)
8. What will be the
reaction of the righteous?
Isaiah 25:9
(let’s rejoice!)
9. So what happens
to the righteous?
- 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
(… we shall all be
changed – a gisty word
for that ’changed’ is
‘translated’)
- 1st Thessalonians 4:17:
Then we who are alive
and remain shall be
CAUGHT UP TOGETH-
ER WITH THEM IN THE
CLOUDS TO MEET THE
LORD IN THE AIR...
10. So if this being
‘caught up’ is
what we called the
RAPTURE, from the
descriptions of the
events on that day,
does it appear like
something where
some people suddenly
disappear?
(Definitely not!)
11. Now, what about
those verses saying:
‘one will be taken
and one will be left’?
We’ve already established
that the coming
will not be secret, and
both the righteous and
the wicked shall see
Him. Now, these verses
in Matthew 24:40,41
seem to be kinda tricky.
Lets put them in their
context and see what
Jesus was saying His
coming will be like.
-Matthew 24:37-41 :
As it was in the days
of Noah, so it will be at
the coming of the Son
of Man. For in the days
before the flood, people
were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving
in marriage, up to
the day Noah entered
the ark; and they knew
nothing about what
would happen UNTIL
THE FLOOD CAME
AND TOOK THEM ALL
AWAY. THAT IS HOW
IT WILL BE AT THE
COMING OF THE SON
OF MAN. Two men will
be in the field; one will
be taken and the other
left. Two women will be
grinding with a hand
mill; one will be taken
and the other left.
(So He was saying that
the time of Noah, where
the flood TOOK them
away. As we already
said, we cannot withstand
His glory if we
have just one unforgiven
sin.)
-See also 2nd Thessalonians
1:9
12. So His coming
shall be unexpected
(but not secret) to
some. So what do
we do?
-Matthew 24:42
(Get prapared!)
13. So, what happens
to the wicked
or the unsaved?
-2nd Thessalonians 1:7-
10, 2nd Thessalonians
2:8
(They are destroyed, …
consumed. Note that
your translation may say
‘everlasting destruction’,
but don’t worry, we’re
studying that next.)
14. So where do the
wicked remain after
they are destroyed
by the glory of His
coming during this
period?
-Jeremiah 25:33
(Remember that Jeremiah’s
prophecy goes far
beyond ancient Israel. It
reaches into the future.
It describes a universal
destruction from one
end of the earth to the
other of those who rebel
against God)
time? Devastated or
just fine with some
‘raptured’ people
missing?
-Revelation 16:17-20 (pay
attention to vs. 20)
-Jeremiah 4:23-27
(very devastated!)
16. Meanwhile,
where will the righteous
be and what
what will they be doing?
For how long?
-John 14:1-3, Revelation
20:4-5
(In a nutshell, we shall
be “in My father’s
house”, reigning - and
judging - with Christ for
1000 years. Notice vs. 5:
at this time the wicked
are SOOO dead.)
17. Where will Satan
be during these
1,000 years?
-Revelation 20:1-3
(“An angel…bound him…
and cast him into the
bottomless pit...til the
thousand years should
be fulfilled.” The term
“bottomless pit” has an
identical meaning to
the description “without
form, and void” of
Jeremiah 4:23. Satan is
thus bound to the earth,
unable to tempt anyone.
The Bible uses the term
chains not as literal
chains but CHAINS OF
DARKNESS. -- See 2
Peter 2:4)
18. Oh, by the way,
how many
resurrections are
-John 5:28-29 (two!)
-Revelation 20:5-
6 (Notice that, here
John states that the
righteous that He just
described in vs. 4 are
the ones who took
part in the 1st resurrection.
That logically
means that there’s a
2nd resurrection,(and
a second death, as vs.
29 says..) We’ll find out
when those happen.)
upon
the
19. So when are the
wicked dead, and
those that were
wicked living that
were destroyed
second
coming,
resurrected
again?
-Revelation 20:5, first
part.
(after the 1000 years
are finished..)
...w e shall be
“in My
Fath e r’s
hous e”,
reign ing ...
with Christ
for 1000
years...
20. What do Satan
and the wicked
dead who have been
raised at the second
resurrection do?
3. How many people
-Rev 20:7
will see Him come?
15. And how will
(Now they prepare for
coming as a thief”,
His coming will be like the world be at that there?
the ‘Battle of Armaged-
18 The Fountain | August 2013 The Fountain | August 2013 19
don’ This is the final war
against the righteous
that have been having
fun in heaven for 1000
years. They’ll be coming
back on earth in the city
called ‘New Jerusalem’,
as we’ll see next.)
21. Where does the
Holy City—New
Jerusalem—come
from?
-Revelation 21:2
(By the way you realize
that this verse is not in
chronology with the others,
coz it’s in the vision
in ch. 21 that John says
that the city descends
from heaven,
so it’s definitely
the
same
city in
ch.
20, as
that’s
where
the
righteous
are.)
22. How does God
prevent Satan from
overthrowing of the
Holy City?
-Revelation 20:9
23. Finally?
-2 Peter 3:13
(Mmmh after all this
drama I don’t think
sin shall ever come up
again in the new earth!)
