Day 24 – Thur 17 May
Iguassu Falls / Rio de Janeiro
We drive across the border to the
Argentinean side of the falls for
the view from a walkway a mere
4 metres above the waters, and
pause at the edge of the Devils
Throat, the largest and most fierce
part of the Falls. The majority of
the falls (approx. 80%) are on
this side of the park covering an
area 550km². We enjoy a walk
along the trails. This trail has six
viewpoints with panoramic views
of the falls. A bridge (2200m round
trip) leading out over the Iguazu
River and small islands ending
at the mighty Devil’s Throat. The
Devil’s Throat is 150m (490ft) wide
and the tallest of all the falls
having a height of 82m (270ft).
The bridge goes right out to the
head of the falls, so be prepared
for plenty of spray. Later we join
an afternoon flight to Rio de
Janeiro, arriving at 5:30pm
