Are breakouts and an uneven skin tone
all you see when you look in the mirror?
Turns out beauty really does come from
within! According to a study published in
the Journal of the American Academy of
Dermatology, processed sugary, highglycaemic
index (GI) foods such as sweets
and doughnuts are far more likely to cause
breakouts than low-GI foods because they
increase the hormones that stimulate the
skin to produce oils. So when you get a
craving for sweet food, reach for fruit,
such as kiwi fruit or pineapple, as it’s lower
GI. The vitamin C in these fruits stimulates
the production of collagen, which
smoothes out the skin. Don’t overdo the
fruit though, as it’s still high in fruit sugars.
