18. Flight Training Instruction (FTI). A CNATRA-approved<br />

manual describing flight procedures and techniques for each<br />

training stage.<br />

19. Hours per X (H/X). The average length for each event in a<br />

block, rounded to the nearest tenth of an hour.<br />

20. Initial Progress Check (IPC) (SXX88). A special check<br />

given by the Operations Officer or his representative. A<br />

satisfactory IPC returns the student to normal syllabus flow.<br />

An unsatisfactory IPC results in an FPC.<br />

21. Lesson Designator. All syllabus events have a fivecharacter<br />

lesson designator in the following format:<br />

activities, prerequisites, and desired training flow for <strong>MPTS</strong>.<br />

24. Off-Wing Flight. A Contact flight not flown with the<br />

student’s on-wing.
