1. Advancing X. Completed event within the normal syllabus<br />

flow. Excludes events with last characters in the range 84-89.<br />

2. Aviation Training Form (ATF). A grade sheet documenting<br />

student performance for all categories of training regardless of<br />

media, phase, or stage.<br />

3. Aviation Training Jacket (ATJ). The ATJ is the student’s<br />

training record. It contains ATFs, calendar card, grade<br />

reports, and all other associated training information. It is<br />

filed in Student Control and follows the student through all<br />

phases of training.<br />

4. Aviation Training Summary (ATS). A tabular sheet listing<br />

the Maneuver Item File (MIF) and maneuver grades within a<br />

training stage.<br />

5. Block of Training. A sequential series of lessons within a<br />

training stage sharing an identical MIF. The third character in<br />

the lesson designator identifies a block.<br />

6. Check Ride (SXX90). A flight check in any stage of<br />

training, which is conducted by a standardization instructor<br />

qualified in that stage.<br />

7. Class Advisor (CA). An Instructor Pilot assigned by Student<br />

Control to provide counseling and guidance to a specific student<br />

pilot throughout the applicable syllabus.<br />

8. Contact. The stage of training that combines both day and<br />

night familiarization.<br />

9. Course of Training. The entire program of preflight,<br />

flight, simulation, academics, and officer development conducted<br />

in all media during the programmed training days.<br />

10. Course Training Standard (CTS). A description of required<br />

behaviors and standards of performance for a specific maneuver.<br />

These standards are in Chapter VIII.
