7. Ground Operations
● Begin when departing
flight planning room
or base operations
for the aircraft.
● End when
transitioning to
forward flight.
● Begin again when
aircraft clears the
runway and continue
until transitioning
to forward flight
for a subsequent
takeoff or when the
aircrew is clear of
the aircraft and
postflight duties
are complete.

● Complies with OPNAVINST 3710.7U,
NATOPS, FTI, RWOP, squadron SOP,
and training directives.
● Determines aircraft status.
● Properly preflights and starts
the aircraft.
● Properly operates aircraft
systems on ground.
● Ensures clearance of line
personnel, ground equipment, and
other aircraft using appropriate
signals.
● Taxies aircraft at speeds
commensurate with safety based on
location, weather conditions, and
pilot skills.
● Maintains taxiway boundaries
(including hold short) and gives
way to other aircraft as
appropriate.
● Properly shuts down the aircraft,
postflights and secures the
aircraft.
