3. Under each category, ask the participants to think of as many things as they can that they would<br />

find supportive and would help them achieve the objectives of their Action Plans.<br />

For example:<br />

■ Self: learn more about how violence affects the community, learn listening skills, learn time<br />

management skills, develop better relationships with other colleagues, keep better record of my<br />

activities, learn more about what motivates me, learn to share how I am feeling, etc.<br />

■ Other Participants in the Group: help convincing supervisors, make learning materials, share<br />

experiences, listen and encourage, share skills, provide feedback, co-facilitate or support in<br />

activities,<br />

plan joint activities, etc.<br />

■ Institution/Employer/Supervisor: provide opportunity to develop knowledge and skill,<br />

departmental endorsement of the Action Plan, resources to implement activities, recognition and<br />

encouragement, legitimacy, weekly meeting with supervisor/colleagues, etc<br />

■ (Name of your Organisation): training, feedback, analytic tools, ongoing support, learning<br />

materials, co-facilitation of activities, exposure to journalists, contacts that can facilitate work,<br />

monitoring assistance, etc.<br />

Part B – Sharing Ideas About Support Mechanisms (30min)<br />

1. Ask one or two people to share their thoughts about the support they need and ask others to add<br />

their ideas.<br />

2. Facilitate a discussion regarding how important ongoing support is for implementation.<br />

3. Affirm your organisation’s commitment to support participants and, if appropriate, make a plan for<br />

follow-up support. This may mean just agreeing on a date and time to meet individually or it could<br />

mean a more detailed discussion of how and when you will continue support from here.<br />

4. If your schedule allows, invite participants to visit you at your office between agreed meeting times<br />

if they need assistance.<br />

Activity 1.22 Review and Evaluation (1hr)<br />

Objectives<br />

■ Allow participants to reflect on and assess the workshop.<br />

■ Bring closure to the process.<br />

Steps<br />

Part A – Evaluation Form (30 min)<br />

1. Using the workshop schedule, summarize all the work you did together.<br />

2. Hand out the evaluation forms and ask participants to fill them out. Remind them the forms are<br />

anonymous and that you would appreciate honest feedback.<br />

Part B – Group Discussion (30 min)<br />

1. Ask a participant to collect the sheets and put them in an envelope to protect confidentiality.<br />

2. Ask each participant to take five minutes of quiet time and think about how s/he experienced the<br />
