Earth is His sustenance <strong>and</strong> provision?”<br />
<strong>The</strong> reply came: ‘<strong>The</strong>n can it really be favoured that you consume His<br />
sustenance <strong>and</strong> still disobey Him?’<br />
Ibr\h|m continued: ‘Secondly if you desire to dwell in His defiance,<br />
<strong>The</strong>n don’t live on His l<strong>and</strong>.’<br />
<strong>The</strong> person responded: “<strong>The</strong>n where can I stay? <strong>The</strong> East <strong>and</strong> the West<br />
<strong>and</strong> whatever lies between them belong solely to Him.”<br />
Ibr\h|m reproached him, ‘<strong>The</strong>n how can a person prefer partaking in<br />
provision provided by All\h <strong>and</strong> parking his person on All\h’s property<br />
while daring to defy him? Thirdly, if you really want to sin then do so<br />
only in a place where he can’t see you.’<br />
<strong>The</strong> person answered: “How can there possibly be such a place? While<br />
He is the Knower of all secrets. Wherever I am He is already there, He<br />
is omnipresent.”<br />
<strong>The</strong> anticipated reply came: ‘<strong>The</strong>n how can it be deemed correct to<br />
consume His sustenance, live on His l<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> whilst He is watching,<br />
still disobey Him?’<br />
‘Fourthly, when the angel designated to give you death comes to take<br />
you, tell him, ‘Wait until I repent sincerely <strong>and</strong> start to act according to<br />
my Lord’s wishes.’<br />
<strong>The</strong> person interjected: “But this request will never be accepted from<br />
me. It will be flatly refused”.<br />
