In 20<strong>04</strong> I tried a new primary hybrid and crossed Cym. wenshanense with Cym. tortisepalum var. longibracteatum, called ‘Spring Sword’ by traditional cymbidium growers in Sichuan. Depicted are the actual parent plants (Figures 18 and 20). The transition from protocorm over slim mycorrhizomes to shoots was relatively short under standard conditions (illumination and normal epiphyte media), despite the development of rather long hairy rhizomes (photo 21). After one year the seedlings had outgrown the flasks and could be deflasked in January 2006 (photo 22). The first flowers appeared in January 2009. Being my first cymbidium hybrid I named it about a year later after my first born child, Isabell Perner, as Cym.
