you do, send your breath into your hips and pelvis. Pretend that your hips are like a wide spatula,
stirring peanut butter inside a jar. Move with that dynamic quality—at a moderate, meditative
pace, so that you are circling the hips as smoothly and as thoroughly along the perimeter of your
circle as possible, waking up your Root and stimulating the unobstructed flow of energy in your
Lower Elixir Field.
3. Circle the hips nine times clockwise and then switch directions and circle them nine times
counterclockwise. As you do, place your attention on keeping your Bubbling Spring Points, Root,
and Crown open to receive chi.
Celestial Shampoo
The Celestial Shampoo stimulates blood flow in the scalp, releases muscular tension from
overthinking and stress, and calms the mind as it opens the Crystal Palace to receive heaven energy.
1. Rub your hands together vigorously, charging them with heaven and earth chi, to create the most
divine celestial shampoo with the energy you’ve collected so far in the flow.
2. Take the precious nectar that you have in your hands and bring the palms of your hands onto your
scalp to massage the hair on the top of your head.
3. Then using your fingertips, massage the chi into your scalp, as if your favorite hairdresser were
treating you to the best shampoo massage of your life. Make sure you cover the entire expanse of
your head, giving it all plenty of attention, coming down around your ears and going to the base
of the skull as well as the top of your head.
4. As you massage your scalp, start having fun with Horse Breaths. Most of us allow negative
thoughts to proliferate, so massage with the intention of chasing the ghosts out of the machine, so
to speak. Use Horse Breaths to send them on their way, from your body-mind and into the earth,
where they’ll be transformed into energy for the plants, flowers, and trees. Do a Horse Breath
whenever you feel inspired or compelled to do so.
5. Continue massaging your scalp until you feel complete. Then, holding your arms away from your
body, give your hands a good shake to cast off stagnant chi and do another hearty Horse Breath
for good measure before proceeding to the next exercise.
Waking the Roots
Waking the Roots, which immediately follows the Celestial Shampoo, stimulates blood flow into the
scalp, clears the mind from excessive thought and multitasking, and calms the spirit.
1. Grab your hair by the roots in small fistfuls and, very gently but firmly, pull your hair away from
your scalp. Do this all over your scalp to uproot the stagnant chi that has developed from
excessive thought. As you move over your head with your hands, breathe in and out deeply and
naturally, waking up the chi on your scalp and inside your brain. You are deliberately moving
