lovable, and deserving. When you clear space in your being, it’s also a love song to yourself, whose
vibrations echo through the ethers, across time. You open the energy gates and let positivity rush in,
flooding your being and your life with new inspiration and possibility.
Now is the time. Enter into stillness, the place where you will tap into your deepest source energy
yet, so quiet and reverent that you will finally able to hear the whisperings of your true heart above
the noise of your mind.
Each of these meditations should last fifteen to twenty minutes, but can be extended as long as you
wish.
The Practice
Be a Tree
I have always loved trees, and Be a Tree is one of the most grounding, calming, and nurturing
meditations I can do. I use it on days when I feel that I have too much energy stuck in my upper pole,
the area extending from my heart center up to my crown.
When we feel anxious, overtaxed, or overextended, we need to draw our energy down into the
earth to feel anchored and calm again. Be the Tree literally helps us to root. When you embody its
energy, you can weather any storm. It enables you to summon the fresh, vivifying energy of the forest,
flooding your entire being with the splendors of nature and inviting negative ions, which promote
health; it’s especially effective as a remedy to being stuck inside for prolonged periods, breathing
stale air. Be the Tree is a way to build a golden shield of protection that feeds your senses, centers
and balances you, and prepares you for the day.
1. Find a comfortable cross-legged seat on a meditation cushion or yoga block and then lift and
lengthen the spine, feeling as if there is a gossamer cord attached to the crown of your head that
is lifting you up and extending your entire spinal column up to the sky. Deepen your abdominals,
gently pulling them in and back to provide a strong central support for your torso. Relax your
arms down by your sides, bringing your palms to rest on top of your knees, and close your eyes.
2. Feel your strong legs underneath your hands as they release completely into the floor, which is
rising up to meet them. They are completely balanced and at ease, meeting in perfect harmony.
3. Place your right hand over your heart and your left hand on your lower belly to connect with
heaven and earth for a few rounds of breath.
4. Now bring your hands together in front of your heart, uniting head and heart, and intentionally call
in your spirit. Think of what you wish to manifest in this moment—not just during your practice,
but in your life. Breathe into this intention. Inhale and exhale for several rounds until you
intuitively know that you have come to own this intention, and then seal it by bowing your head to
your heart.
5. Inhale deeply. Then, to send your intention out into the universe and acknowledge your place and
your power as a part of the world and all things, chant “A-U-M, Ommmmm.” Once you’ve
