Waking Energy 7 Timeless Practices Designed to Reboot Your Body and Unleash Your Potential
13. Repeat the above sequence three to six times. At times when you feel especially overtaken by anger or consumed by frustration, or if you have a bitter taste in your mouth or any issues with your eyes or vision, repeat the entire sequence as many times as is necessary to feel relief and restore equanimity and balance to your liver. You may also perform the sequence multiple times if you want to detoxify the liver. Cosmic Healing Sound for the Heart: Hawwww Mouth position: Mouth wide open to create the “Hawwww” sound Paired organ: Small intestine Emotions: Hatred, impatience, cruelty Signs of imbalance: Chest pain, palpitations, high blood pressure Benefits: Engenders joy, honor, sincerity, patience Related sense: Taste Element: Fire Sounds: Kindling igniting in a fireplace, the crackling and hissing of burning logs Season: Summer Color: Red 1. Sitting tall, inhale and rub your hands together vigorously. Using the energy you’ve just generated, bring your palms right above your heart with your left fingertips slightly overlapping your right fingertips, thumbs pointing upward. Turn your vision inward toward the heart and smile at your heart as you start to sway from left to right. Close your eyes and imagine the colors of a sunset, brilliant shades of red, orange, and pink, and breathe this vibrant light and energy into your heart. 2. As you breathe and look from left to right at your heart, scan for impatience, jealousy, and hatred. Whatever emerges, allow yourself to feel it and start to delete it, allowing your heart to ride the motion of the body from left to right in tandem with your eyes, as they explore the inner topography of your heart. 3. Complete twenty-one sets of looking left to right, breathing naturally as you do, while you consciously delete the shadow-side emotions of the heart (hatred, impatience, jealousy, and envy). With your breath, send them down into the earth below. 4. Now, as you inhale, bend your elbows and raise your palms up toward the ceiling at the sides of your body. Then continue to circle your arms up until they are overhead, framing the top of your head. 5. Interlace your fingers and invert your palms so that they face up. Then lean your torso over to the right, with an emphasis on mobilizing the rib cage itself, feeling a deep stretch in the left side of your body, down into the heart and the pericardium, which is the heart protector, a fascial sac surrounding the heart. 6. Lift your head and with eyes open, look up directly at the back of your hands, still leaning over to the right. As you progressively stretch your arms with greater energy and emphasis, press the left
foot more firmly into the ground and actually feel the heart and its visceral casing stretching inside your torso. 7. As you exhale, open your mouth, forming a large, relaxed O shape with your lips and make the healing sound “Hawwww,” like a whisper, with no real vocal participation behind the exhalation. Simultaneously, continue to stretch up and over to the right, compressing the pericardium around the heart, so as to expel excess heat and toxins from the heart. 8. After you have emptied your lungs completely, inhale again. As you next exhale, unclasp your hands, keeping the fingers pointing toward one another, and invite heaven chi to pour down through your crown down into your heart, bathing it in the vibrantly colored, clearing radiance of a sunset. 9. Return to sitting upright and slowly circle your arms down to shoulder height with palms facing away from you. Then continue to circle your arms to the front of your body until they come to rest with palms in front of your heart center. Radiate red light and the energy of love, joy, patience, and calm from your hands into your heart. 10. Rock from side to side, breathing the energy of love into your heart, and then radiate the infinitely powerful red light of joy outward from the heart, continuing to release impatience, jealousy, and hatred from your body-mind. As you exhale, bring your hands down to rest on your knees. 11. Continuing to rock from side to side, scan your heart from left to right while letting go of impatience, hatred, and impatience. Send these down into Mother Earth to be transformed. As you rock and breathe, forgive, forget, and let go. (There is a saying, “Forgive, but don’t forget,” but the truth is, you have already learned the lessons you needed to learn from your shadow-side emotions, so you can afford to forget. Let it all go. Relax and breathe.) 12. Still swaying from side to side, bring your hands together in a Prayer Position in front of your heart and continue to feel the vibration of the healing sound of the heart doing its work of expelling the last traces of excess heat from your heart. See and feel a deep, rich, ruby red and pink glow radiating from your heart and enveloping your entire being in its healing light. Breathe love right into your heart and see the energy of love filling your heart like an eternal flame, giving birth to so much joy, peace, and happiness that you can’t help but smile. 13. Repeat the above sequence three to six times. When you feel moody, upset, angry, resentful, or restless, or if you are suffering physically from a sore throat, swollen gums, cold sores, or heart disease, you may repeat the entire sequence as many times as you deem necessary to support your heart and get relief.
