moment. Each time you exhale, push the “delete” key in your brain and in your liver, let go of
anger, and send the liberated chi down into the earth below.
5. After you’ve completed your sets, take a deep inhalation, and as you do, interlace your fingers,
inverting your palms so that they face up, and bring your arms overhead in a circle framing your
head. Lean your torso slightly over to the left, with an emphasis on mobilizing the rib cage and
feeling a deep stretch in the right side of your body where the liver is located.
6. Lift your head with eyes wide open and look up directly at the back of your hands. Open your
eyes wide and stretch your eyeballs in their sockets to stimulate your liver chi, as you
progressively stretch farther to the left, actually feeling the liver and its visceral casing stretch
inside your body, both creating compression and expelling excess heat.
7. As you continue to reach the arms up to the left with energy and intention, stretching your gaze as
well, press your right foot more firmly into the ground, inhale deeply, and then exhale making the
liver healing sound, “Shhhhh.” As you do, consciously acknowledge that the sound is vibrating
inside the liver, expelling excess heat and toxins, while at the same time drawing heaven chi in
through your hands and sending it directly into your liver.
8. After you have completely emptied your lungs, release the clasp of your fingers, but keep your
palms facing up to collect additional heaven chi through your palms. Remain here for a few
rounds of breath.
9. Bring your spine back into a centered, vertical alignment and gradually circle your arms down
around the sides of your body, allowing your palms to turn forward, bringing the heaven chi that
you have gathered down toward the ground. At the same time see heaven chi pour through your
crown and down into your liver. Finally, bring your hands to rest on the tops of your knees.
10. Resume the gentle rocking from side to side, as you breathe deep, rich, emerald-green forest
energy and kindness into your liver. Relax and let go. Rock for three breath cycles, allowing your
body to integrate the energy you have just drawn down from heaven and transform it into healing
green light for your liver. Continue to release anger from your body-mind into the earth.
11. Now bring your hands back in front of your liver, a few inches above it, as you did earlier in step
1, and continue rocking from side to side, once again directing your inner vision to scan the liver
from left to right and delete any anger you feel. This time make a focused effort to separate angry
feelings from the people and events you feel helped to create them. Add the energy of
forgiveness, sensing it emanating from your hands and flowing directly into the liver. As you
sway from side to side, continue to “delete” the anger. Feel the gratitude of the liver rising up to
your heart to thank you for your efforts.
12. As you breathe and continue to rock from side to side, imagine the sound of wooden wind chimes
vibrating inside your liver and clearing out any remaining heat or toxicity. See and feel your liver
being purified and cleansed as the drying heat of anger, aggression, and frustration continues to
leave your body, making space for the fresh, pure, moisture-rich, green, wood energy of the forest
to grow in its place. As you consciously delete anger, feel kindness and generosity flowing into
the liver and then expanding into your heart. Sense the gorgeous evergreen color of the forest
surrounding your liver; it emanates from the center of the liver and radiates outward until it
encircles your entire body in a magnificent glowing green halo of softness and light. Rest in this
beautiful green light and imagine that you are being cradled by the forest itself, nestled like a bird
among soothing, fresh green leaves. Let go now and fly.
