1. Sit tall in a chair <strong>and</strong> rub your h<strong>and</strong>s <strong>to</strong>gether vigorously. Then bring your palms <strong>to</strong> your lower<br />
back, in the area of your kidneys, <strong>and</strong> send the energy you’ve generated with your h<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong><br />
warmth <strong>to</strong> your kidneys <strong>and</strong> adrenal gl<strong>and</strong>s as you breathe deeply <strong>and</strong> smoothly. Close your eyes<br />
<strong>and</strong> imagine a soothing, deep, oceanic blue light surrounding <strong>and</strong> bathing your kidneys. Visualize<br />
<strong>and</strong> hear ocean waves washing up on shore or a gurgling brook playing over rocks. Invite the<br />
sound <strong>to</strong> soothe your ears as you listen. The ears are connected <strong>to</strong> the kidneys so they both benefit<br />
from this practice. Picture sunlight shining on the water <strong>and</strong> breathe the powerful life-force<br />
energy of the reflected rays of the sun bouncing off the water in<strong>to</strong> your kidneys.<br />
2. As you inhale, turn your inner vision <strong>to</strong>ward the kidneys themselves. With your h<strong>and</strong>s radiating<br />
warmth in<strong>to</strong> your kidneys, smile at each one, first looking left <strong>and</strong> then right in alternation, <strong>and</strong><br />
send the healing energy of your intention in<strong>to</strong> the kidneys. As you do so, gently sway your body in<br />
t<strong>and</strong>em with your inner vision, rocking your body from left <strong>to</strong> right. Complete twenty-one sets of<br />
looking left <strong>to</strong> right.<br />
Tune in <strong>to</strong> your kidneys <strong>and</strong> hear what they have <strong>to</strong> say. Are they feeling depleted <strong>and</strong> in need<br />
of your attention? Is there a tender quality <strong>to</strong> the lower back, a sense of fragility or sensitivity?<br />
<strong>Your</strong> smile, the breath of your intention, <strong>and</strong> warmth from your h<strong>and</strong>s is nourishing <strong>and</strong><br />
recharging them.<br />
3. As you look left <strong>and</strong> right, with your h<strong>and</strong>s still in position over your kidneys, bring up any fear<br />
inside your body-mind <strong>and</strong> allow it <strong>to</strong> breathe. Give it space inside you, so that it can come <strong>to</strong> the<br />
surface of your consciousness <strong>and</strong> express itself fully. Then escort it out of your body-mind <strong>and</strong><br />
send it in<strong>to</strong> the earth below. As you continue your twenty-one repetitions of looking left <strong>to</strong> right,<br />
switch your focus <strong>to</strong> “deleting” fear. Acknowledge it, push the “delete” but<strong>to</strong>n, <strong>and</strong> then send it<br />
on its way. You have the power <strong>to</strong> “delete” anything that no longer serves a positive purpose.<br />
You have the power <strong>to</strong> release fear, <strong>to</strong> let it go completely in this very moment.<br />
4. Now that you have started <strong>to</strong> effectively clear the fear, shift your focus. Intentionally connect <strong>to</strong><br />
your h<strong>and</strong>s on your kidneys <strong>and</strong> direct your mind <strong>to</strong> harness energy from the earth <strong>and</strong> send it in<strong>to</strong><br />
your Sea of Chi <strong>and</strong> bring energy from heaven down in<strong>to</strong> your kidneys at the same time.<br />
5. Now inhale <strong>and</strong> bring your feet <strong>and</strong> knees <strong>to</strong>gether, rounding your upper body forward <strong>to</strong>ward<br />
your knees (creating a large C shape). Clasp your palms <strong>and</strong> press down, so that the insides of<br />
the wrists rest upon the knees.
