Although you can do this practice anytime, I always love performing it either in the morning, <strong>to</strong><br />
clean the energetic slate, get grounded, <strong>and</strong> set my intention <strong>to</strong> prepare for a productive <strong>and</strong> joyful<br />
day, or in the evening before bed, <strong>to</strong> clear away the energy of the day, cool the organs, recalibrate <strong>and</strong><br />
balance my internal temperature, <strong>and</strong> prepare the body <strong>and</strong> mind for a deep, restful, rejuvenating<br />
sleep.<br />
This beautifully simple little ritual, not unlike so many of the other practices in this book, if<br />
performed regularly, can change your life on its own—it is that immensely powerful <strong>and</strong> effective. If<br />
you perform it daily, you will significantly boost your immune system, prevent illness, <strong>and</strong> create an<br />
exceptional state of inner <strong>and</strong> outer balance. Perhaps the best news is that once you become adept at<br />
performing the different cosmic healing sounds <strong>and</strong> can move from one organ <strong>to</strong> the next in a seamless<br />
flow, you can compete the entire set in under fifteen minutes.<br />
Finally, like anything that has <strong>to</strong> do with <strong>Waking</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>, the healing sounds follow the flow of<br />
nature: they are ordered according <strong>to</strong> the progression of the seasons. It is good <strong>to</strong> practice extra<br />
repetitions of a healing sound if you are in the season associated with it. This advice may be<br />
counterintuitive, because you would think that an organ would flourish in its own season, but it’s<br />
similar <strong>to</strong> the principle in Chinese astrology that your animal year may not necessarily be the best<br />
time for you. For example, in the autumn when the lungs are vulnerable, consider performing the<br />
Cosmic Healing Sound for the Lungs sequence twice as many times as the other healing sounds, <strong>to</strong><br />
strengthen lung chi <strong>and</strong> build resistance against bronchial issues.<br />
If you’re ever feeling an excess of a specific emotion, perform the healing sound related <strong>to</strong> the<br />
organ that governs it <strong>to</strong> balance your emotional state <strong>and</strong> res<strong>to</strong>re your inner peace <strong>and</strong> equilibrium. If<br />
you feel exhausted or out of gas at work, simply practice the healing sounds for the lungs <strong>and</strong> kidneys,<br />
if you don’t have time <strong>to</strong> perform them all.<br />
