Before You Begin<br />

The principle of opposition is the principle at work when you create an equal <strong>and</strong> opposing isometric<br />

resistance <strong>to</strong> a movement. It’s a self-imposed resistance that involves using muscles with intention<br />

<strong>and</strong> stretching them <strong>to</strong> their utmost in diametrically opposite directions. It’s a highly effective way of<br />

lengthening <strong>and</strong> strengthening. When you use intention as you’re executing a movement, the muscles of<br />

that part of the body develop as a testament <strong>to</strong> that intention. All your muscles reflect your effort <strong>and</strong><br />

intention when you create oppositional resistance.<br />
