Shaking the Soul Tree<br />
Shaking the Soul Tree resets the entire nervous system <strong>and</strong> strengthens the arms, shoulders, <strong>and</strong><br />
abdominals. It washes your psyche <strong>and</strong> system clean of sadness <strong>and</strong> heartache <strong>and</strong> replaces them with<br />
clear vision, deep insight, wisdom, <strong>and</strong> prodigious inner strength <strong>and</strong> calm. This kriya will give you<br />
nerves of steel, so that you can rise <strong>to</strong> any occasion.<br />
This is another exercise where you might want <strong>to</strong> ab<strong>and</strong>on ship about thirty seconds in. Do not<br />
quit! The rewards are limitless. Not only are you strengthening your will, commitment, <strong>and</strong><br />
determination, but you are burning through old, heavy, hardwired emotional programming as well as<br />
newly acquired stresses <strong>and</strong> upsets. This exercise has the power <strong>to</strong> help heal broken hearts <strong>and</strong><br />
devastating disappointments. Keep going, <strong>and</strong> when you are finished, I assure you, you will feel a<br />
thous<strong>and</strong> pounds lighter in body, mind, <strong>and</strong> spirit.<br />
1. St<strong>and</strong>ing tall with feet slightly wider than hip-width apart, bring your arms up above your head <strong>to</strong><br />
form a narrow V shape.<br />
2. Keeping the arms strong <strong>and</strong> straight, but the wrists <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>s soft, with the palms facing one<br />
another, start <strong>to</strong> flap the h<strong>and</strong>s vigorously in the air in a back-<strong>and</strong>-forth motion, so that they look<br />
like the highest branches of a tree being whipped around by ferocious s<strong>to</strong>rm winds.<br />
3. Rather than performing the Breath of Fire here, you will do Long Deep Breathing <strong>and</strong> concentrate<br />
on shaking the arms <strong>to</strong> keep the h<strong>and</strong>s in constant, deliberate motion.<br />
4. Keep shaking your soul tree for three minutes or even longer if you are so inclined, <strong>and</strong> when you<br />
have completed your time, bring your h<strong>and</strong>s in<strong>to</strong> Prayer Position overhead <strong>and</strong> draw the h<strong>and</strong>s<br />
down in front of your heart center <strong>and</strong> then in front of the midline of the body. Open your h<strong>and</strong>s,<br />
drop them down by your sides, <strong>and</strong> then reach them around back.<br />
5. Interlace your fingers, trying <strong>to</strong> keep the palms pressing <strong>to</strong>gether if you can, <strong>and</strong> as you pull the<br />
h<strong>and</strong>s down <strong>and</strong> back <strong>to</strong>ward your heels <strong>and</strong> the floor, open your heart <strong>to</strong> the sky <strong>and</strong> breathe<br />
deeply, feeling the stretch of your chest, shoulders, <strong>and</strong> arms, all the muscles you have just<br />
worked so intensely for the past several minutes.<br />
6. After a few breaths, release your arms down by your sides <strong>and</strong> turn your palms <strong>to</strong> face front,<br />
which will naturally open your chest <strong>and</strong> encourage optimal posture. St<strong>and</strong> relaxed <strong>and</strong> tall,<br />
basking in your own energy <strong>and</strong> radiance.<br />
Abdominal Pumping<br />
Abdominal Pumping activates the abdominal center <strong>and</strong> the Solar Plexus Chakra (manipura) <strong>to</strong><br />
receive powerful life force, stimulating the thous<strong>and</strong>s of nerve plexuses <strong>and</strong> nadis that emanate from<br />
this center. It prepares your entire breathing apparatus for the work ahead, enhances lung capacity,<br />
loosens <strong>and</strong> relaxes the diaphragm, flushes the internal organs, infusing them with highly oxygenated<br />
blood <strong>and</strong> moving stagnant blood <strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong>xins out, boosts overall circulation, <strong>and</strong> stimulates <strong>and</strong><br />
strengthens digestion.
