ZULU PEOPLE<br />
The "Ama Zulu" Zulus were originally<br />
a minor clan, founded in 1709 by Zulu<br />
kaNtombhela, in what is now.<br />
KwaZulu-Natal. This tribe is the most<br />
famous in South Africa and their<br />
traditions are still alive today, and<br />
express themselves through music,<br />
dance and crafts.<br />
The Creation of the Kingdom by<br />
CHAKA ZULU was the illegitimate<br />
son of Senzangakona, then Chief of the<br />
Zulus. His mother, Nandi, were exiled<br />
by Senzangakona, and found refuge in<br />
another tribe - the Mthethwa.<br />
He set up a formidable army with the<br />
more experienced trustworthy soldiers<br />
strategies in the world. He enlisted<br />
men by age group in regiments,<br />
requires discipline and rigour in the<br />
ranks, to serve a very advanced<br />
military strategy. The army gathered in<br />
a semicircle: in the Center, the soldiers<br />
experienced. On the wings, the young<br />
warriors who have to surprise their<br />
opponents by their mobility and<br />
surround them quickly; at the rear, the<br />
old hands who complete work if<br />
needed. Shaka thus conquered many<br />
Territories, likened the new<br />
populations, up to transform a<br />
confederation of tribes into a unified<br />
and homogeneous, Kingdom all this in<br />
10 years! When Senzangakona died,<br />
Dinswayo her mentor aida Chaka to<br />
take the head of the Zulu tribe. The<br />
Zulus speak the Zulu language or<br />
isiZulu, a Bantu language. It is the<br />
most spoken language in South Africa,<br />
it is the official language of the<br />
country.<br />
More than half of the population<br />
understand it, more than 9 million<br />
people are native Zulu and more than<br />
15 million speak it fluently. A part of<br />
the South African end of the Zulu tribe<br />
speaks their mother tongue as English,<br />
Portuguese, the tsonga, sotho and<br />
other languages in South Africa. Some<br />
say that the Zulus have developed an<br />
extraordinary vocal tradition because<br />
lack of large trees, they could<br />
manufacture of instruments. This<br />
tradition has evolved, incorporating<br />
religious songs for four voices made by<br />
European settlers. Siyahamba fits<br />
during the songs of cappella devotion.<br />
His words mean: "we walk in the light<br />
of God." Music and the Zulu dance<br />
worldwide aired through covers of<br />
traditional songs such as "the lion is<br />
dead tonight" and the international<br />
artist Johnny Clegg.<br />
