ZULU PEOPLE The "Ama Zulu" Zulus were originally a minor clan, founded in 1709 by Zulu kaNtombhela, in what is now. KwaZulu-Natal. This tribe is the most famous in South Africa and their traditions are still alive today, and express themselves through music, dance and crafts. The Creation of the Kingdom by CHAKA ZULU was the illegitimate son of Senzangakona, then Chief of the Zulus. His mother, Nandi, were exiled by Senzangakona, and found refuge in another tribe - the Mthethwa. He set up a formidable army with the more experienced trustworthy soldiers strategies in the world. He enlisted men by age group in regiments, requires discipline and rigour in the ranks, to serve a very advanced military strategy. Some say that the Zulus have developed an extraordinary vocal tradition because lack of large trees, they could manufacture of instruments. This tradition has evolved, incorporating religious songs for four voices made by European settlers. Siyahamba fits during the songs of cappella devotion. His words mean: "we walk in the light of God."
