WHY WATCH: A killer cast takes on Agatha Christie’s<br />
classic whodunit. (It’s the Expendables for the nonaction<br />
crowd!)<br />
THE LOWDOWN: A huge avalanche traps an eclectic<br />
group of passengers on the titular luxury train running<br />
between Istanbul and Paris. One of them is murdered,<br />
and the perp(s) is still aboard. Enter Belgian detective,<br />
Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh), to solve the case.<br />
THE BUZZ: First things first, this isn’t your<br />
grandparents’ Murder on the Orient Express — it’s<br />
Kenneth Branagh’s. So even if you’re familiar with<br />
DAYS<br />
the 1934 book or the acclaimed 1974 star-studded<br />
adaptation by Sidney Lumet, you’ll still be surprised by<br />
the latest movie version produced by Ridley Scott and<br />
Simon Kinberg (The X-Men franchise). Just how close<br />
is Branagh sticking to the source material? If he’s too<br />
faithful, the movie will be too predictable; if he strays<br />
too much, it may betray the spirt of the book. So will<br />
Mr Edward Ratchett, the vile businessman (played by<br />
Johnny Depp in the new movie), still be the murder<br />
victim? Branagh is keeping mum, of course. “What I<br />
would say is that Johnny Depp makes such a strong
