Queen Liu is bent on<br />
eliminating the Crown<br />
Prince, so that Wang Yao<br />
can ascend the throne.<br />
She decides to execute her<br />
plan during the ceremonial<br />
ritual.<br />
The ceremonial ritual<br />
commences. Wearing<br />
costumes and masks,<br />
the princes perform the<br />
ritual sword dance. Some<br />
demon-masked men join<br />
in the performance and<br />
unexpectedly attack the<br />
Crown Prince.<br />
Sensing something<br />
amiss, the princes defend<br />
the Crown Prince. The<br />
assassins flee. When the<br />
Crown Prince removes his<br />
mask, everyone realises<br />
he is, in fact, Wang Zhao.<br />
Although his arm has a<br />
slash wound, he goes after<br />
the assassins.<br />
Out of curiosity, Xie Shu<br />
follows Wang Zhao into<br />
the woods. Wang Zhao<br />
catches up with one of the<br />
assassins and engages in a<br />
fight.<br />
Meantime, Xie Shu<br />
wanders into a different<br />
area of the woods. She<br />
chances upon Wang Yao<br />
ordering his guards to kill<br />
the assassins who failed in<br />
their mission.<br />
The last assassin is<br />
killed by Wang Xu. With<br />
that, Wang Zhao loses<br />
his last lead to the plot’s<br />
mastermind. If he is unable<br />
to pin-point the mastermind,<br />
he won’t be able to remain<br />
in the capital.<br />
Queen Liu fumes at<br />
the failed assassination<br />
attempt. She is baffled<br />
by Wang Zhao’s knowledge<br />
of martial arts. She<br />
suspects Astronomer Cui<br />
Zhimeng has had a hand<br />
in this, and possibly a<br />
hidden connection to Wang<br />
Zhao.<br />
Mingyi feels uneasy<br />
when she discovers<br />
her husband, Wang Xu,<br />
unconsciously displaying<br />
a special affection for Xie<br />
Shu.<br />
Wang Zhao forces Xie<br />
Shu to relate everything<br />
she saw in the woods.<br />
Xie Shu remembers the<br />
assassins’ leader was<br />
wearing fur. Instantly,<br />
Wang Zhao recalls that<br />
Wang Yao had worn fur<br />
during the ceremonial<br />
ritual. Wang Xu comes to<br />
the same conclusion as he<br />
does.<br />
Wang Zhao orders Xie<br />
Shu to forget what she saw<br />
in the woods, for her own<br />
safety.<br />
TUE JUNE 6<br />
10pm Episode 4<br />
The Crown Prince and<br />
Wang Zhao examine the<br />
assassins’ corpses. They<br />
find that all their tongues<br />
have been cut out. The<br />
practice is reserved for<br />
renounced monks, whose<br />
tongues are sliced off for<br />
their sin. Queen Liu has<br />
donated temples to house<br />
renounced monks.<br />
Wang Xu helps to dress<br />
Xie Shu’s neck wound. She<br />
notes the emergence of a<br />
strange sensation within<br />
her.<br />
Wang Zhao arrives at the<br />
run-down temple before the<br />
Crown Prince does. He kills<br />
all the monks present, and<br />
sets the temple ablaze to<br />
protect his mother, Queen<br />
Liu.<br />
Stained with blood, Wang<br />
Zhao staggers into Queen<br />
Liu’s room. He tells her<br />
that he has erased all the<br />
traces of her wrongdoing.
