Two soap dishes are required in bathtub/shower combos.<br />
Soap dishes must not have grab handles and must not be<br />
plastic. For shower-only rooms, the single soap dish must<br />
be placed in the corner on the showerhead wall, 48”/1.20<br />
m above the finished floor, and a footrest in the corner<br />
opposite the showerhead on the back wall, 15”/380 mm<br />
above the finished floor. For bathtub/shower combos, the<br />
shower height dish remains in the showerhead corner with<br />
the bathtub height centered on the back wall 24”/610 mm<br />
above the finished floor. Bathtubs or showers with multiple<br />
grab bars required by the local jurisdiction may adjust dish<br />
locations as needed.<br />
One 304 stainless-steel towel shelf with a single bar must<br />
be provided over tubs where shown on the prototype. The<br />
shelf must be 24”/610 mm minimum with 3/4”/19 mm O.D.<br />
shelf and bar tubing. Fourteen-gauge support plates must<br />
be positioned behind the 2"/51 mm minimum-width wall<br />
flange. A 304 stainless-steel, vertical towel rack (ladderstyle)<br />
with three horizontal bars must be provided in<br />
showers where shown on the prototype. The rack must be<br />
18"/450 mm wide minimum with 3/4”/19 mm O.D.<br />
horizontal bar tubing.<br />
18”/450 mm towel bar must be installed immediately<br />
adjacent to vanity. Towel bar is not allowed over the water<br />
closet. The light switches and receptacles at the vanity<br />
must not be concealed when towels are placed on the<br />
towel bar. The towel bar may be mounted on the face <strong>of</strong><br />
the vanity.<br />
Two single or one double robe hook must be provided.<br />
Mount at 6’-0”/1.8 m above the finished floor.<br />

Where a kitchen hood exhaust system is used to control<br />
grease-laden vapors, the following fire protection systems<br />
and hood/duct construction criteria must be verified as<br />
being installed:<br />
A fire suppression system designed for the installation in a<br />
kitchen hood to protect kitchen appliances and the kitchen<br />
hood exhaust system. The suppression system must<br />
provide protection <strong>of</strong> the kitchen cooking appliances, the<br />
kitchen exhaust hood, and the exhaust plenum portion <strong>of</strong><br />
the hood connection to the exhaust duct.<br />
The kitchen exhaust hood and the exhaust ducting must<br />
be solely dedicated to the exhaust <strong>of</strong> grease laden vapors<br />
and must be separated from all other exhaust systems.<br />
The kitchen hood and exhaust ducting must not be<br />
constructed <strong>of</strong> any material that is subject to corrosion or<br />
heat degradation. No galvanized metal is allowed.<br />
Kitchen exhaust duct system must be constructed and<br />
installed so that grease cannot collect or leak from any<br />
joint in any portion <strong>of</strong> the exhaust system.<br />
Grease duct cleanout access panels must be provided to<br />
allow inspection and cleaning <strong>of</strong> all sections <strong>of</strong> the duct<br />
system. Acecss hatches must not be spaced more than<br />
19'-8"/6 m apart.<br />
All sections <strong>of</strong> the exhaust duct must have a two-hour fireresistive<br />
rating from the point <strong>of</strong> duct penetration <strong>of</strong> a<br />
ceiling, wall or floor to its exterior termination.<br />
