100 word story
Junior Olympics
Three years ago, when I was 10 years old, my mom signed me up to run
track. The name of my track team was hot feet. My coach's name was JT collor,
but everyone called him Coach “T”.
We had no idea what races I would run, but after a couple weeks of
practices we figured out that i was a sprinter. So soon enough, I was on my way
to my first qualifying track meet in Lee’s Summit, MO (State) and the next
qualifying meet in Joplin, MO (Districts). I had never run in a track meet
before. There were so many people and my heart was racing. But I did it! I
qualified for the Junior Olympics in the 100m and 200m dash.
After a long month of training, I was off to the Junior Olympics at Drake
University in Des Moines, IA. The track was bright blue and very different than
any other track I had ever seen. There were 10 times as many runners and so
many people in the stands watching that I couldn’t even see my parents. I
thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest. When it was my turn to
run, I was just praying that I wouldn't false start. The gun went off and I was
done before I knew it. It was an experience I will never forget.
Turkey encounter
There we were just driving down the highway, on our way to
Ottertail Lake, Minnesota. It was bright and sunny day and I was sitting in the
back seat of the car with my sister. My sister and I were fighting as usual when
something unusual occurred. There was a loud crashing noise and the car came
to a sudden stop. I had no idea what had just happened. My mom turned around
and asked if we were ok. I realized I was shaking and had tiny pieces of glass
spread all around me, but I seemed to be ok. I asked my mom what happened,
and she said something had hit our windshield. I looked at the window and it
was so shattered that you couldn't even see through it. We called my grandpa
and he picked us up. When we picked up the car at the repair shop we had been
informed that it was a low flying wild turkey that must have hit our windshield.
Medical mysteries that will blow your mind health/medical
Landon Jones is 12 years old in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On October 14, 2013 he
went to the hospital feeling dizzy and suffering from chest congestion. A chest
X-ray later showed he had a bacterial infection in his left lung, which later
healed. But ever since that day Landon has had no desire to eat or drink. Since
then his weight has plummeted from 47 kilograms to a low of 31 kilograms.
Because of this his parents have to constantly remind him to keep eating and
drinking water.
Brooke Greenberg is a 20 year old girl in the mind and body of a two
year-old. The only thing that has ever grew were her hair and her nails. Brooke
is one of about a dozen children in the world who have syndrome X -- a kind of
Benjamin Button disorder that prevents them from aging. In her first six years,
Brooke went through a series of medical emergencies from which she recovered,
without an explanation. She survived 7 surgerys for 7 perforated stomach ulcers.
She had a brain seizure followed by a stroke but there was no apparent damage.
Gabby Gingras is a 14 year old girl who doesn't feel pain. At a very young
age she chewed on her fingers so much she ended up injuring three of her
fingers. Gabby also at a young age had to get all of her teeth pulled because she
chewed on her tongue so much. Gabby has a rare disorder that affects the sensory
nerves. The nerve fibers never fully developed and there is no solution she will
have this condition for ever. http://www.health.com/health/article/0,,20411885,00.html

Who would've thought?
Men are 6 times more likely to be struck by lightning than women. About
648 people are struck by lightning each year. And about 82% are male. Scientists
think this because men take more chances during storms. This is because men
are less willing to stop their sports.
How much do you think a cloud weighs? Certainly more than you would
think. A single cloud can weight more than 1 million pounds. This means that
there are millions of pounds of water floating above your head at all times.
That's the equal to about the same as 100 elephants.
Who do you think washes their hands more, men or women? On October
15th a group of scientist took a survey to see if men or women washed their
hands more. Scientist put sensors in the soap dispenser to see who used the most
soap. The results revealed a lot of separation between the genders. Only 32% of
men washed their hands and, 64% of women washed their hands.
First you need to make your cupcakes. You will bake your batter as told. But then
to get the rainbow effect you will need to separate your cake batter into 6 separate bowls
and mix in your food coloring. After your cupcakes have baked you will crumble up your
cake into the 6 separate bowls. Pour 100g white chocolate chips and whipping cream into a
small pot and set to medium heat. Stir constantly until the chocolate has melted, then
divide evenly between the cake. Stir until the cake is fully coated in the chocolate
mixture. Next you will lay out some plastic wrap. You will then layer ach color of the cake
mixture and then wrap the stack and roll it into a ball. Place in the freezer for no
longer than 20 minutes. Now you will need your lollipop sticks, you will dip them in
the white chocolate and stick one into each cake pop. Now place them back in the freezer
for about 5 to 10 minutes. After about 10 minutes you will dip the cake pop into the
chocolate and tap off any excess chocolate. You can now add sprinkles and then place in
the freezer for a full 15 minutes and then finally they will be ready to eat.
Theses are special to me in many ways. But the main reason is that these are the
first dessert i baked. After i baked them i really started to enjoy baking. I started to love
baking them. I first baked them in the summer. So everyday I would bake. It was really
fun for me. It also relieves stress and was just really relaxing to me. They were hard to
make at first, but as time went on i got much better at making them.

I SURVIVED
Jeannie burk was a survivor of the holocaust. Her whole life was a nightmare. By the time she
was ten years old her mother died from breast cancer and her dad had been murdered from one of
the soldiers just because he was jewish. Her sister who was 8 years older than her had a rare bone
disease called osteomyelitis which left her in a body cast for about 2 years. Her brother was 12 years
older and was already in a home for boys. One morning gestapo took jeannies father, and her
mother refused to go and said she couldn't because of her sister who was in the body cast. Luckily
they let her go. jeannies mother after they left took jeannie and her sister to a secret hide out with
another woman. They never did see their father again. After her dad didn't ever come back, her
mom struggled to help the family. Her dad dies from being gassed, and if she was home she could of
been too. Her mother then got breast cancer and died in 1950. They then went to new york to visit
the union headquarters. Later, about a month after she got back from new york the savage family,
who was related offered to take her in for a better life. The flight was 18 hours but she tries to sneak
back on the plane to go back home. At 12 years old she weighed only 62 pounds and was told her
skin looked grey by the Savage family who adopted her. Jeannie got married at a very young age, had
two boys but then got divorced shortly after. She wasn't married for a very long time until she met
maurice. He already had 4 children, with a wife who had past. Jeannie soon joined the new
americans social club. Then in 1985 they went to the world gathering holocaust survivors. There she
met many other survivors and heard their stories. There was a book that the german had held with all
the people who went to concentration camps and the dates they came back. But there was no date next
to her father's name meaning he was dead. Jeannie had never actually known if her father had died
but on that day she finally knew. Jeannie still doesn't forget what the germans did.
Review for the new hit show, 13 reasons why
There are a lot of different opinions on this new hit show “13 reasons
why” It has started conversations all around the world. This new show is about a
girl who committed suicide because her life got to be too much. But before she
does she leaves 13 tapes about 13 people who drives her to do this. It is heart
stopping and you just can't stop watching it! They are thinking about making a
season 2 but because of all the controversy about the show they are still
questioning on making it or not. You want to find out who did what they did
and why they did it. The show leaves a lot of cliffhangers so i hope they do make a
season 2. The actors are incredible in the show and give you a lifelike feeling.
This show is important because it teaches you to be aware about the people behind
you. It also shows that the littlest things can make the biggest difference in
someone's life. This is definitely a 5 star rating from me, but you will want to
find out for your own.
