What’s The Word Answer Sheet 15

Puppy Power!
I was having fun at school when my dad came to pick me up. I was only five but I knew
something great was about to happen. After a fifteen minute drive home, my dad parked in our
driveway and looked back at me, excited. I hopped out of the car and saw neighbors walking to
our front door to see something adorable. I walked into my house, puzzled, and there he was.
Sitting in the couch corner, a puppy who I recognized from our trip to the pet store. With his
adorable wagging tail, I fell in love instantly.

Bad Balloon!
I had this glow in the dark balloon in my room. I was trying to fall asleep when all of the
sudden, I looked up and this balloon was moving around my bed. I was very confused. I tried to
ignore it. About ten minutes later, it started moving closer to me so I got up, turned off my fan,
and put it in the corner of my room. About twenty minutes later, I woke up. It was above me. I
screamed and it starting bouncing off of my head. To this day, I can’t keep balloons in my room.

Mandela Effect
“The Mandela effect is the observed phenomenon of people having clear memories of events
that did not occur or misremembering significant events and facts.”
(http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/Mandela-effect) In simpler terms, many people remember
something from their childhood being one way, but they discover that it was completely different. A
popular example of the Mandela Effect is the Berenstain Bears theory. Some people do remember it
being Berenstain, but many others are most certain that it was spelled Berenstein. Some other examples
of this issue include people remembering Curious George having a tail even though he does not. Many
people also remember the original Snow White movie quote being Mirror Mirror on the wall, however,
the quote is actually Magic Mirror on the wall. So many people thought it was The Looney Toons even
though the 1930’s television show was actually called The Looney Tunes. There is a strong belief of many
others that The Flintstones was actually spelled Flinstones. “Maybe it’s parallel universes or time travel,
maybe it’s just bad memory — either way, it’s fascinating.”
-you-ques?utm_term=.jvLJMPwXv#.pywbW5J3k) Another example of the Mandela Effect may shock you.
The famous movie quote, Luke, I am your father from Star Wars Empire Strikes Back, doesn’t even exist.
The quote is actually No, I am your father which was said by Darth Vader after Luke Skywalker accused
Vader of killing his father. Do you think that the Mandela effect really exists or is it just a myth? Which of
these Mandela Effect examples, if any, have affected you?

Did You Know?
Why are firetrucks red? “One theory holds that fire trucks are red, because the earliest
fire departments were made up of unpaid volunteers. These volunteers didn't have much money,
and red was the cheapest color of paint to use, so they painted their fire trucks red.”
(http://wonderopolis.org/wonder/why-are-fire-trucks-red/) Some other people believe that
firetrucks were originally painted red because many cars back then were black or white so the
bright red would stick out in a crowd. Ford cars were all made black in the 1920’s. Nowadays,
there are many other colors that they make emergency vehicles with but the primary color used
is red. No matter what color they make the trucks, we should appreciate what they do for us.

Did You Know?
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? This question first
appeared in a Tootsie Pop commercial. Many people became interested enough to actually try
and find out. “A group of engineering students from Purdue University reported that its licking
machine, modeled after a human tongue, took an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a
Tootsie Pop. Twenty of the group's volunteers assumed the licking challenge-unassisted by
machinery-and averaged 252 licks each to the center.”
(http://tootsie.com/howmanylick-experiments) It really depends on who is testing it because
everyone is different. Is it worth the time and effort to try this for yourself, or, would you rather
just enjoy your treat?

Did You Know?
Can dogs eat human food? Many people already know that dogs can have certain human
foods. In fact, some human foods are great for dogs! “Blueberries are a great summer treat for
dogs. Broccoli is a great source of fiber and Vitamin C when given in moderation.
(http://dogtime.com/dog-health/general/21380-human-foods-that-are-ok-for-dogs) Many other
foods however, can be terrible for dogs. Some of these foods include avocados, grapes, raisins,
and chocolate. Give your best friend the best!

Chocolate Chip Cookies Made To Impress!
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 12 minutes
Ready in: 1 hour and 40 minutes
Recipe by: Debbi Borsick
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/15004/award-winning-soft-chocolate-chip-cookies/
Ingredients:
4 ½ cups of all purpose flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda
2 cups (4 sticks) of softened butter
1 ½ cups of packed brown sugar
½ cu of white sugar
2 (3.4 ounce) packages of instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
4 cups of chocolate chips
2 cups of chopped walnuts (optional, DO NOT USE IF A CONSUMER IS ALLERGIC)
Directions:
1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Sift together the flour and baking soda,
set aside.
2: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in
the instant pudding mix until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour
mixture. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop cookies by rounded
spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Edges should be golden brown.
This recipe is perfect for parties or just for any given time! These cookies are
very fun to make and even more fun to eat! They go perfectly with a glass of milk.
The secret ingredient (vanilla pudding) softens the cookies to the point where they
melt in your mouth! These cookies are perfectly magnificent in every way! They
have just enough chocolate and there is a slight buttery taste! 5 out 5 stars and
11/10 rating!

Penn Station Review
Penn Station is an amazing restaurant that makes and sells East coast sub
sandwiches. Personally, it is my favorite restaurant because of the quality and flavor.
You walk into the restaurant and they greet you nicely. After deciding what you want
to eat, you order your food and walk down to the cash register. They sell extras like
chips, cookies, and fresh squeezed lemonade. Everything is always made fast and
fresh. The food is served to you hot and the food seemingly melts in your mouth. The
cookies are shaped like squares with square chocolate chips and they are creamy and
delicious. I would rate Penn Station a 5/5 stars because of the infinite flavors and the
friendly service.

I Survived A Chip Auger Drill Through The Head
In 2003, Ron Hunt was balancing on a ladder at a construction site in
California. The ladder broke and he fell head first onto a large chip auger drill.
The drill went straight through his eye socket and came out of the back of his
skull. Ouch! His coworkers brought him to the hospital while trying to accept the
fact that there was an 18 inch drill stuck in his head. At the hospital, they cut
off the ends of the drill that were sticking out of his head, all while he was
conscious and talking! They decided to surgically remove the rest. After noticing
how loose it was, doctors basically just unscrewed it from his head. Ron didn’t
have enough money to pay for his hospital bills after surgery, so, many
generous people set up a hospital fund for him. Everybody was surprised that
he was alive.
