Ant predAtors
Steinernema Feltiae
Type: Entomopathenogenic Nemotode
How it works: A special formulation for spraying. The
nematodes swim through a film of water and enter
the mine to attack and kill the larva within.
Species controlled: More than 230 insect pests are
susceptible, including; black vine weevils, cabbage
root maggots, codling moth larvae, corn earworm,
cucumber beetles, cutworms, flea beetles, flea
larvae, fungus gnat larvae, Japanese beetle larvae,
root maggots, sod webworms and wireworms,
leafminer, western flower thrips, all ants but will
target any other bug they come into contact with on
their travels.
When to use: At any time of the year, ideal at
temperatures above 16°C. Do not use under strong
lights or when the sprayed crop is likely to dry within
3 to 4 hours. A series of 4 or 5 weekly sprays is best to
control a population.
Preventative: 50 million per 400 m2 or 250 million
per 2000 m2.
Standard control: 50 million per 200 m2 or 250
million per 1000 m2
£34.50
Aphidoletes Aphidimyza
Type: A small, orange predatory larva, the adult is a
nocturnal midge fly.
How it works: Introduced as cocoons from which
adults emerge. The blister packs enable monitoring
and mating of adults on release. Adults lay eggs next
to aphid colonies located by the scent of honeydew,
larvae develop as tiny orange maggots that feed on
aphids. One larva can survive on 5 large aphids but
will kill up to 35 or more.
Species controlled: Larvae feed on over 60 aphid
species, including those common in field and
protected crops within the UK.
When to use: Between April and September for
re-cycling generations, however they can be used all
year round if supplementary lighting is available.
Rates of use: Normally 1 Cocoon per 1 m2 per week,
for local hotspots increase the rate up to 10 per 1 m2.

4
Aphid predAtors
Chrysoprla Carnea
Type: Young larvae of predatory lacewing.
How it works: An extremely active predator with
large pincers used to attack, hold and suck the juices
from the pest body.
Species controlled: Effective at controlling
established aphid populations. Also feed on whitefly
eggs and scales, thrips larvae, moth eggs, young
mealybug nymphs and other small insects.
When to use: Use on established populations of
aphids or other pest colonies, ideal for organic crops.
Rates of use: 10 larvae per 1 m2repeat after 2-3
weeks.
Orius Laevigatus
Type: Predatory bugs.
How it works: Voracious predator of thrips, aphids
and most other soft bodied prey. They often kill lots
more than they need if visible.
Species controlled: Orius will attack all stages of
thrip on plants and most other soft bodied pest they
come into contact with
When to use: Ideal to control established thrips
populations on a range of plants and can be used
alongside other biologicals.
Rates of use: 0.5 to 1 per m2 every 2 weeks until
established.
APHID predators
Nesidiocoris Tenuis
Type: Predatory Bug
How it works: Nesidiocoris is voracious & hungry. It is
a generalist predator. Very fast moving and a major
natural enemy of pests such as whiteflies, moth eggs
and other small grubs. Also enjoys feeding on other
pests such as thrips, two spotted mite and aphids,
making it one of the best generalist predators on the
market!
They tend to blend very well with plant material and
like to hide, so can be difficult to see. Eggs are laid
into the plant tissue and cannot be seen with the
naked eye. Eggs hatch after about 7 days depending
on temperature, nymphs take approximately 14 days
to develop into adults. Nesidiocoris has a shorter life
cycle when it feeds on eggs and larvae of whitefly or
moths, than when feeding predominantly on thrips
or a wide varieties of mites.
They breed quickly at temperatures of 23°C and
above, but generations are much slower below 20°C.
Both adults and nymphs feed on pests.
Species controlled: aphids, spidermite, thrips, most
larvae & most other soft bodied prey.
Application: To apply simply sprinkle the contents
of bottles evenly over the tops of the plants.
10-20mL of media per release point is recommended
to increase mating. When pest levels are initially low
it is suggested to first apply sterilised Ephestia moth
eggs over the crop to give Nesidiocoris a food source
and improve initial establishment. Releases should
ideally occur in low light conditions, preferably early
morning or late evening to reduce possible losses of
adults flying directly to vents.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Nesidiocoris will feed on plant tissues. Symptoms
due to plant feeding are common and tend to
occur in the following situations:
When there is little or no prey available and
Nesidiocoris numbers are moderate to high
If high numbers of predatory bugs are present in
the growing points of plants.
In hot weather conditions Nesidiocoris will breed
more quickly and take more moisture from plants
Common feeding symptoms include:
• Spotting and holes in new leaves
• Necrotic feeding rings on soft plant stems and
flower petioles
Some signs of feeding are normal and are
expected. Minor to moderate symptoms will not
cause damage and are a sign of good predator
levels in your crop. Economic damage can be
avoided by regular monitoring. If Nesidiocoris
reach high levels and numbers are not lowered,
economic damage may occur including:
• Necrotic rings in the main stem near the heads
• Flower drop
• Uneven setting
• Feeding spots on fruit
• Irregular shaped flowers and/or fruit
This can be easily controlled by introducing moth
eggs as an additional food source in the absence of
pests.
Garden chafer /COCK CHAFER
Heterorhabditis SP
Type: Insect parasitic nematodes.
How it works: The spray application releases nematodes
which seek out insect larvae / grubs in the soil
entering them through natural openings. Once
inside they release their symbiotic bacteria killing
the grub. Nematodes multiply in the dead organism
releasing a new generation.
HETERORHABDITIS SP
ENTOMOPATHENOGENIC NEMATODES
VERMICULITE 250,000,000 IN SEALED TRAYS
MM092
£68.50
Species controlled: The Phyllopertha
horticolapresent in turf. Other species of Chafer such
as the CockchaferMelolontha melolontha may not
be adequately controlled owing to differences in life
cycle.
When to use: In accordance with the Garden Chafer
life cycle - when the larvae are close to the soil
surface and when the soil surface is above 12°C.
Typically treat from August to September. Later
applications and the larvae may be too deep to be
targeted and soil temperatures too low. Apply to wet
ground (irrigate if required and afterwards). Nematodes
must pass through the thatch layer and into
the soil and need to be kept moist for 2 - 3 weeks.
Nematodes are sensitive to sunlight so apply late in
the day. Damage prevention will be noted the
following spring when most damage is usually seen.
Rates of use: 50 million pack treats 100 m2, 250
million pack treats 500 m2.

BROAD MITE predators
Amblyseius Californicus
Type: Predatory Mite
How it works: Used for the prevention, control, and
management of various mites. These 0.5 mm. mites
are noted for their ability to actively hunt in
conditions where prey is few and far between.
This mite has also made a bit of a name for itself by
being able to deal with some of the nearly
microscopic species, like broad mites, cyclamen
mites & tomato russet mite.
Species controlled: Spidermites, broad mites,
Type: A small, orange predatory larva, the adult is a
nocturnal midge fly.
Species controlled: Larvae feed on over 60 aphid
species, including those common in field and
protected crops within the UK.
When to use: Between April and September for
re-cycling generations, however they can be used all
year round if supplementary lighting is available.
Rates of use: Normally 1 Cocoon per 1 m2 per week,
for local hotspots increase the rate up to 10 per 1 m2.
Steinernema Kraussei
Type: Microscopic nematodes.
How it works: The Nematode worms seek vine
Weevil Larvae in moist soil and compost, larger
weevil grubs are more easily located. Nematodes
enter the weevil larvae and release a small pellet of
bacteria that kills the host after a few days. The
parasitic worms begin to reproduce, releasing
several thousand more juvenile infective nematodes
able to find and kill further weevil grubs.
Species controlled: Black Vine Weevil (Otiorhynchus
Sulcatus) and other soil living Larvae.
When to use: Autumn and Spring are the main
seasons for nematode application, although
additional treatments may be needed for heated or
protected crops. It is important that the soil or
compost is kept moist (not water logged) They will
work as low as 5°c allowing applications to be made
whenever the pest is active. Apply as a drench,
diluter, watering can or through most irrigation lines.
In all cases remove any fine filters and ensure water
temperature is between 5 and 15°c.
12
Rates of use: Container Plants: The 50 million pack
treats up 100m2, 250 million up to 500m2
Open Ground Treatments: The 50 million pack treats
up 50m2, 250 million up to 500m2.

FRUIT & VEGETABLE PROTECTION
Phasmarhabditis Hermaphrodita
OUR BEST SELLER FOR SLUGS AND SNAILS!
This product has the ability to completely rid your
garden of slugs and snails if guidelines are followed.
We advise to over treat your area to completely
irradiate slug & snail populations, if you requite any
help or advice on this treatment please contact us
directly at: contact@mitemunchers.com
Type: Microscopic nematodes.
How it works: Nematodea seek slugs and water snails,
they enter the body and start to develop from
infective juveniles to adults. In doing so a pellet of
bacteria is released that begins to multiply spreading
through the hosts body. Infected slugs are noticeable
by the swollen mantle on their back, this ruptures a
few days later releasing thousands of nematodes that
seek to infect further hosts.
PREDATORY MITES IN A PEAT AND VERMICULITE, 500ML
CARDBOARD TUBE CONTAINING 25,000
MM047
£32.50
How it works: Mites feed on sciarid fly larvae and
other 'soil' pests including springtails, thrips pupae
and root mealybug. At night they move a short
distance up, on to the plant foliage and will feed on
mealybug and other soft bodied prey. Mites are very
mobile and soon distribute themselves throughout
the crop. Adults are reported to live for several
months and survive up to 50 days without food,
making them ideal in situations of very low pest
populations.
Species controlled: Bradysiaspp and sciarid fly larvae
and other 'soil' pests including springtails, thrips
pupae and root mealybug. At night they move a
short distance up, on to the plant foliage and will
feed on mealybug and other soft bodied prey.
When to use: Introduce into most growing media
including artificial substrates. Use as a preventative
or at the first sign of sciarids. Requires a minimum
temperature of 12°c.
Rates of use: 100 per m2 usually as a single
application. For permanently planted areas (interior
landscapes, botanic gardens etc.) re-introduce every
Type: Soil inhabiting nematodes that are lethal insect
parasitoids that are used to control root-zone and other
pests. The life cycle takes around a week and consists of
an egg stage, four juvenile stages, and an adult stage.
Only the first juvenile stage can infect the host. Once
inside the hosts body cavity it releases a bacterium
(Xenorhabdus nematophilus) that rapidly multiply and
kill the host. The parasite feeds on this bacteria.
Pheromone
Type: Proprietary product containing the aggregation
pheromone of Western Flower Thrips, Frankliniella
occidentalis.
How it works: Use of Thripline for monitoring allows
growers to introduce additional control measures, such as
Amblyline biological control agent, before thrips
populations reach damaging levels. Pheromone lure for
Western Flower thrips causes thrips to move to the top of
the crop resulting in earlier detection and estimation of
population size.
Species Controlled: Western Flower thrips.
When To Use: Thripline contains a synthetic version of a
sexual aggression pheromone produced naturally by male
occidentalis. It attracts both male and female thrips into
mating aggregations. It will not attract thrips from outside
of the general crop area. The pheromone is encapsulated
in rubber lures (septa) and is released gradually over
Diglyphus Isaea
Type: Parasitic wasp.
How it works: The wasp lays its eggs next to the
leafminer larvae, damage ceases immediately as the
larvae are paralysed. The wasp parasite larvae then feed
on the leafminer larvae. Adult females kill and feed
directly on small leafminer host larvae that are too
small to support a developing parasite larva.
Species controlled: Liriomyza (Tomato Leafminer) and
Phytomyza (Chrysanthemum Leafminer).
When to use: Ideal for use from mid-February in heated
crops and April in unheated crops. Establishment will
only occur if the wasp is released when sufficient
numbers of reasonable sized larvae are present within
the crop.
Rates of use: 1 wasp per 1 m2 every week for 3 to 4
weeks.
