It sure doesn’t sound
like the type of grapes
one would expect at a vineyard.
No worries, these aren’t the
grapes that go into Calico Skies’
award-winning vintages.
Rather, it’s the title of the next
dinner theatre show put on
by Upstage Productions being
hosted Friday, May 19, at the
vineyard and winery just outside
Inwood.
“We’ve stayed with them since
we’ve opened. They’re pretty
much the best at doing this type
of show,” said Calico Skies owner
Will Kimberley. “We’ve never
had a show that wasn’t funny or
that people didn’t enjoy. In four
years, we’ve also had no repeats,
so it’s always fresh, new and
funny.”
Tickets are $45 per person,
which includes dinner and the
show.
The evening begins with a
social hour at 5:30 p.m. During
this time, the actors will mingle
as the crowd filters in and determines
who might be likely
participants in the evening’s
entertainment.
“There is a little bit of audience
interaction, but with the
format most can just sit and
watch a really funny show. The
actors do a good job figuring
out who does want to join in
and have a part,” Kimberley
said. “That part is always fun
and a bit impromptu and sometimes
becomes the best part of
the show.”
After Act I, there is a break for
dinner catered by The Riviera
out of Brandon, SD. After Act II,
there is another intermission for
dessert, then Act III brings the
resolution to the show.
“We don’t usually know a lot
of plot details or scripts ahead
of time, just the theme,” Kimberley
said. “This one is based
off classic material, but some
are more modern. There is always
enough unknown to have
great surprises in every show,
and we expect this one to be
another good one.” F
