Sunday Night Live is Here!
Bring the entire family to the FLC at 6:30 pm on Sunday, June 24th to hear a message from Rev. Sean
Peters. Sean is our former pastor and current pastor at The Journey in Crestview, FL. He is also bringing
his praise band so we will have an evening of worship.
We will begin the evening with an ice cream social so we can all visit. We are asking everyone who can
to bring some homemade ice cream—any flavor! The Fun-n-Fellowship Committee will provide
drinks. Invite another family to join you as we enjoy the beginning of summer!
If you have questions please call Beth Russell (864-2384).
Holly Fair
ATTENTION CHEFS AND CRAFTERS!!!
It’s time to start thinking about your favorite recipes and gathering together all those materials that
you’ll need for the craft projects you intend to donate to this year’s
16th Annual Shalimar Arts and Crafts Holly Fair
The Holly Fair welcomes your beautiful quilts, linens, woodworking, ceramic, jewelry,
clothing, candles and other art and craft projects. Also those mouth-wateringly delicious homemade
cakes, pies, cookies, breads, candies, jams, jellies and canned fruits, vegetables, sauces and
condiments are always popular with the fair-goers.
We really do need you to fill the Galleria and the Holly Berry Bakery with your donations again this
year. Remember, all proceeds from the sale of these contributions are used, equally, for in-house
church needs and projects and to assist various local mission outreaches like the Ben Gordon Center,
Sharing and Caring, Fresh Start, and others.
October 20th will be here before you know it, so please start planning now.
Friendship Club
All friends/members of Shalimar UMC are invited to attend the Friendship Club Luncheon on Tuesday,
June 12th, 11:30 am in the Family Life Center. A fun melodrama program, under the guidance of Nancy
Litten and entitled "The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter" will be presented. A salad luncheon will be
served at a cost of $6 in FLC Room 106. Come out and enjoy some fellowship and a fun time. Be sure to
August Mission Trip
Henderson Settlement, in the Appalachian region of eastern
Kentucky, is a year-round work opportunity for volunteers in
mission and service-minded groups. The Work Camp strives to
provide home repair for low-income community residents.
Some examples of work projects are roof replacement, small
room additions, painting, and building porches or ramps. In
addition to providing mission opportunities, Henderson
Settlement strives to provide an atmosphere where
participants grow spiritually and gain a personal
understanding of mission. Evenings are spent in Christian
fellowship and learning about the diverse ministries of Henderson Settlement (http://
www.hendersonsettlement.com). Shalimar UMC will send a mission team (ages 13 and up) to
Henderson Settlement the week of August 5-11, 2012. June 15th is the registration deadline. If you
would like to be part of this team, call Bill McBroom (651-2080) for more information.
2012 Church Directory
Lifetouch. This company has merged with Olan Mills and will be producing our new directory for
SUMC. Full details will be upcoming, but plan to gather your family together in late summer to be a
part of the new directory for our growing church family.
