PROSPECT LEAGUE BASEBALL COMING TO VILLAGE OF LISLE –
BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY SPORTS COMPLEX SUMMER OF 2016!
For most big league ball players their path begins in premier summer collegiate
wood bat leagues across the nation. With 50 different summer collegiate leagues
all around the US and Canada it’s a big business and a major driver towards the
scouting and development of future MLB stars. Of the 50 plus leagues, only a
select few drive the bulk of the collegiate prospects. Towards the top of that list is
the Prospect League, the league now coming to the Village of Lisle. The
Prospect League has a rich history of producing top MLB talent including over
175 big leaguers since its inception. The list includes such names as players of
decades ago such as Mike Schmidt and today’s stars such as Jonathan
Papelbon.
Lisle Baseball Partners, LLC announced today that Prospect League baseball is
coming to Village of Lisle – Benedictine University Sports Complex in 2016.
Under the deal, Lisle Baseball Partners, LLC will bring and operate a team
playing in the Prospect League beginning in the summer of 2016.
“The Prospect League is fortunate to have baseball in Lisle once again,” said
Prospect League Commissioner Bryan Wickline. “When we gain another quality
facility like Benedictine University's BenU Baseball Field, it only adds to the firstclass
stadiums we have in our League. Our players have told us our stadiums set
us apart. Adding BenU and their fabulous facilities department personnel will
strengthen the satisfaction of not only our players, but our coaching staffs as
well. Josh Schaub and his staff will ensure that the Lisle area will have a firstclass
fan experience and add to the quality of life to its residents and surrounding
region.”
Village of Lisle Mayor Joe Broda stated, “The Village of Lisle is excited to
welcome Prospect League Baseball to the B.U. Sports Complex! The Prospect
League often catches the eye of MLB scouts, who offer a chance for these
players to be developed into future stars. We anticipate this team will also attract
fans and other visitors to the community, providing a positive economic benefit
and a quality of life to the entire Village. As “The Arboretum Village, Lisle is the
perfect, natural environment for these talented players to refine their skills and
thrive in a state-of-the-art sports complex. In 2016, the Village of Lisle will
celebrate its 60 Anniversary. I know of no better way to celebrate this milestone
than to enjoy a baseball game, which is rich in American tradition, with a superior
baseball league at bat, the Prospect League. Welcome to Lisle!”
Owner of Lisle Baseball Partners, LLC, Josh Schaub stated, "We are extremely
excited to be bringing Prospect League baseball to the Lisle market. Not only
does the Prospect League boast some of the elite college talent in the country,
but it brings a sound business model that employs family friendly entertainment
at its core. We are looking forward to bringing championships and a higher
quality of life to Lisle for years to come. Fans can look forward to cutting edge
promotions and the traditional baseball entertainment fans across all the
Prospect League markets have come to enjoy."
Lisle Baseball Partners, LLC has also launched a ‘Name the Team’ contest to
seek community input for the team nickname. Fans can visit
www.LisleBaseball.com to submit their team name for a chance to win a $500
cash prize, season tickets and more!
The team name, colors and logo will be unveiled at a special event; exact date
and location will be announced. Season tickets can be reserved on a first come,
first serve basis by submitting a $50 deposit with the team after the unveiling.
