Part IV contains the style chapters, which examine<br />

the various styles of blues throughout history. Chapter<br />

11 starts with the roots in the Mississippi Delta and<br />

the acoustic guitar of Robert Johnson. It then moves East<br />

to catch the lively ragtime-influenced strains of the<br />

Piedmont school. Chapter 12 is the heart of today’s blues:<br />

classic electric blues. Chapter 13 visits the other classic<br />

period of the blues — blues rock — which started with<br />

Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. Chapter 13 closes<br />

with the metal movement (yes, they played the blues, too)<br />
