The slow and funky 16 feel<br />

More modern blues grooves include the 16 feel, which has a slower tempo<br />

but funkier sound due to the 16th-note subdivisions. (James Brown’s “I Feel<br />

Good” and “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” are classic examples of 16th-note<br />

based funk.) “Hard to Handle,” written by Otis Redding and covered by the<br />

Black Crowes, is a famous example of 16-feel blues. Figure 5-17 is medium<br />

tempo, funky groove in a 16 feel.<br />
